After releasing the hyper-real visuals for the Dylan Brady produced ‘claws’ last week, today Charli XCX unveils another taste of her highly anticipated forthcoming quarantine album ‘how i’m feeling now’ - ‘i finally understand’.

Produced by Palmistry with additional production from A. G. Cook and Mechatok, ‘i finally understand’ explores the feeling of everything falling into place and realising the strength of your emotions. Brimming with hyperactivity, ‘i finally understand’ presents a more straightforward pop format than ‘forever’ or ‘claws’ but with a no less diverse sonic palette, drawing from elements of UK garage and hints of Baltimore club music while providing a truly irresistible vocal line from Charli.

To coincide with the release of ‘i finally understand’, Charli has commissioned three artworks for the track, created by Allison Zuckerman, Jon Emmony and POLYGON.

Releasing on 15th May 2020, Charli XCX’s forthcoming new album ‘how i’m feeling now’ is a completely unique project. Written, recorded and released in quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the album invites collaboration in a new way, welcoming fans to give feedback on every aspect of the record; from contributing to videos, to songwriting choices, to single selection and more.

Auf jeden Fall auch super gut, wird langsam ein Beatles-Beach Boys-artiges Duell zwischen Grimes und Charlie XCX.

"Forever" ist einer der Songs des bisherigen Jahres, poppig und eingängig mit seinem Singsang und gleichzeitig irgendwie total lässig hingeklatscht, würde mich nicht wundern, wenn der Song komplett auf Garage Band entstanden wäre^^

Ich warte noch darauf, dass das ganze Album erscheint, bin nicht so ein Fan von Vorabsingles. "Charli" fand ich großartig, daher sind die Erwartungen hier schon hoch.

Ist wie erhofft super geworden. Ist vom Sound wieder näher am Sound von PC Music als der Vorgänger, A.G. Cook und Danny L Harle als Producer verwundern einen beim Hören nicht. Mal sehen, wie es sich im Vergleich mit dem Rest der Diskographie schlägt.

Nach dem grandiosen Opener (ein Track über exzessive Selbstbefriedigung?:D) und den guten schon bekannten Singles plätschert es etwas vor sich hin, aber ich glaub das gefällt mir eigentlich ziemlich gut, ihre Alben zuvor waren mir immer etwas Featureüberladen, mag die "minimalistischen" Tracks, die fast nur noch übereinandergelegte Singsangs sind, am liebsten.

Macht auf jeden Fall nicht den Eindruck eines spontanen und nicht so ernst gemeinten Albums, das mal eben so nebenbei entstanden ist, auch wenn es das wahrscheinlich tatsächlich ist. Entweder ist das mit der Popmusik lang nicht so schwierig wie man denkt und viele Künstler arbeiten da mit künstlicher Verknappung, oder die ist echt krass talentiert (oder beides).

Eine 8/10 ist es allemal, aber eine 7/10 von hier für ein Mainstreampopalbum ist ja quasi eine 8/10 ^^

Bei allen "Mainstreampopalben", wenn man so will, kann ich die Bewertung hier allerdings am besten nachvollziehen :).

Ich finde die 7/10 auch passend. Musste das Album sogar mehrere Male hören, um überhaupt auf diese Wertung zu kommen, denn anfangs fand ich es mäßig toll. Aber mittlerweile habe ich doch einiges auf dem Album im Ohr - besonders schön finde ich die Mitte mit "Enemy" und "Detonate". Der Opener ist natürlich auch ein Kracher und "Forever" ein sehr angenehmer Hit. "True Romance" bleibt aber mein Lieblingsalbum von ihr.

So bisher würde ich die 7/10 auch unterschreiben können, aber kann mir vorstellen dass es noch gut wächst.
