On the sound of her new album:
"We are definitely dancing… I put all my heart, all my pain, all my messages from the other realm that I hear of… what they tell me to tell the world and I put it into music that I believe to be so fun and you know, energetically really pure. I want people to dance and feel happy. I would like to put out music that a big chunk of the world will hear, and it will become a part of their daily lives and make them happy every single day."

On the process of making her new album:
"We made a lot of the record in my studio house. So I have a house where it's Frank Zappa's old studio, it's a live room, it's a big studio, it's beautiful. And I would be upstairs on the porch, outside the kitchen, and Bloodpop would come up and he'd go, 'Okay, come on, that's enough, off the porch,' and I would cry and I would say, 'I'm miserable, I'm sad, I’m depressed,' and he'd go, 'I know, and we're gonna go make some music now. And then I'd go downstairs and I would write. This album is such a display of not only how you can reframe the way that you view the world, but I promise and I hope, that the love that was around me in the process of making this album is something that other people feel, that they know that artistically, like, you know how producers are, if one guy’s working on it, or one girl’s working on it, they don’t want anyone else to work on it, they don’t wanna share, they, everybody gets cocky, there was none of that. These records got passed around to so many different people, there were so many different iterations of these songs because we all wanted it to be perfect and literally nobody cared who put their fingerprints on it, as long as it was the dopest thing that we could give to the world and that it was meaningful, authentic, and completely me."

On working with Max Martin for the first time on "Stupid Love":
"He's an amazing producer. I've never worked with him, I've always sort of gone, 'I write my own music, I produce myself, I don't need to work with Max, right?' And I decided to stop being an asshole, meet him at least, you know? Basically, I sang over a track that Bloodpop made. We sent over what I sang to Max, Max picked some parts out, sent it back to me, and then I wrote lyrics and used some of the melody that he chose that he sent back to me and I kind of spliced it all together and then I went to his studio, and sat down at a piano and I played 'Stupid Love' on a piano with chords. And I looked at him and I said, 'That's what I've got for you,' and to me, this song can only stand on it’s two feet, even with a great track, if you can play it on a piano and it still sounds like a hit. And he was-he was like, I love it, get in the booth. I warmed up my voice, got in the booth, I sang it, and what you’re hearing on 'Stupid Love' is what we did that day."

Sehr catchy und nach vorne preschend. Jeder Songteil hat seine Hookline. Ein Monster von einem Hit und die Quintessenz der frühen Gaga direkt aus dem Pop-Lab von Max Martin.

Wie schon angesprochen eindeutig wieder ein Schritt Richtung Anfangsjahre noch vor Art Pop - damit hätte ich ehrlich gesagt nicht mehr gerechnet. Gaga's Anspruch war seit Cheek to Cheek, Joanne, Superbowl und Oscars definitiv ein anderer.

Song finde ich gut aber um eine 1 Minute zu lange - das Leitmotiv wiederholt sich einfach zu penetrant - da ist das Songmaterial auf Art Pop besser durchdacht.

Und eine Frage die sich mir aufdrängt: ist das Video eine entfernte Homage an Barbara Eden's Verkörperung der bezaubernden Jeannie? Ich meine das durchaus ernst :-)

Lady Gagas sechstes Album hört auf den Namen "Chromatica" und wird am 10. April erscheinen.



Im Interview mit dem Musikjournalisten Zane Lowe äußerte sich Lady Gaga zum Konzept des Albums, das erneut in Zusammenarbeit mit BloodPop entstanden ist:



„The symbol for Chromatica has a sine wave in it, which is the mathematical symbol for sound, and it’s from what all sound is made from, and, for me, sound is what healed me in my life period,

and it healed me again making this record, and that is really what Chromatica is all about.

It’s about healing and it’s about bravery as well and it’s really like, when we talk about love I think it’s so important to include the fact that it requires a ton of bravery to love someone.“

Lady Gaga überraschte das Publikum vor einigen Wochen mit der Single “Stupid Love” (über 300 Millionen Streams) und kündigte ihr neues Album “Chromatica” an. Doch die Pandemie kreuzte ihre Pläne und Lady Gaga verschob kurzerhand die Veröffentlichung — und organzierte stattdessen gemeinsam mit der WHO und Global Citizen das Benefiz-Konzert “One World: Together At Home”. Am 29. Mai ist Lady Gaga zurück und veröffentlicht “Chromatica” u.a. mit Features von Ariana Grande, Elton John und Blackpink!

Es ist extrem wahrscheinlich, dass das Album, das Grimes 2 Wochen eher veröffentlicht, und mal eben so aus dem Ärmel geschüttelt hat, besser sein wird als dieses Album, aber gespannt bin ich trotzdem.

"Stupid love" klingt sehr nach der "Born this way"-Ära. Ich weiß ja nicht. Braucht das heute noch jemand?

Singen kann sie natürlich weiterhin hervorragend.

Sie erinnert mich zunehmend an Cher, auch optisch^^

Solang die zumindest solide Alben macht ist mir das nur Recht, die Krone des Pop hat sie ohnehin kurz nach Born this way weitergegeben, alles was jetzt kommt ist nur noch Bonus und kann musikalisch gar nicht mehr relevant sein, da sie sonst ihr bisheriges Konzept verraten würde, das halt nach zwei Alben weitestgehend auserwählt war. Der Film war schon ein unfassbarer Glücksfall für sie, selbst Madonna hat es nie geschafft eine solche Rolle zu bekommen und auch die Musik dazu zu schreiben.

Wenn man sich Ihre Milestones die letzten Jahre ansieht, dann darf man auch als Nicht-Fan Respekt zollen: Oscarpreisträger, Gesicht einer ganzen LGBT-Bewegung, Corona One World Organisatorin, Superbowl Nationalhymne, Billboard Platz 1 in der Rubrik Jazz... et cetera - und anders als Ihre Genrekolleginnen schreibt und komponiert zum Großteil selbst. in Österreich würden wir sagen: Die Gaga is a guade!

Bin zwar erst bei Song 6, aber wie es sich bisher anhört ist es die übliche Radiopopgrütze, klingt ziemlich austauschbar. Ziemlich schade eigentlich, Artpop und Joanne und ihre Jazz-Alben waren ja alle schon stilistisch sehr ungewöhnlich. Vielleicht meinte sie, es sei mal wieder Zeit für 0815-Madonna-Pop.

Produzent fast aller Songs war allerdings BloodPop, der hat ja auch mit Haim oder Vampire Weekend gearbeitet, das bietet zumindest die theoretische Möglichkeit, dass das Album noch wachsen kann, Song 7 ist jetzt auch wieder sehr gut.

Der coolste Song ist "Babylon", ein bisschen Retro, ein "Vogue"-Zitat und insgesamt sehr lässig. So hätte ich mir das ganze Album gewünscht.

Ninja, Lady Gaga macht also eine Disco-Pladdre, ein Club-Album. Diesmal sogar ohne Ausreißer in andere Genres.
Nur: Wann werden diese schwitzigen Pumakäfige je wieder öffnen? Und ob es in diesem Sommer überhaupt wieder private oder öffentliche (legale) Partys geben wird? Man weiß es nicht... Für den privaten Hörgebrauch ist es mir zu plakativ und aufdringlich.
Im nächsten Jahr wird es dann andere Alben geben, die den Anspruch auf Dauerrotation auf dem Dancefloor erheben. Darum schätze ich, dass das Timing für die VÖ eines solchen Albums einfach nicht passt.
