Ein weiteres geniales Album der besten Band der 80er ( neben Depeche Mode ).

Diese Platte stellt eine Übergangsphase da: Es ist nicht mehr so düster wie der Vorgänger "Por.nography" aber auch nicht so fröhlich wie der Nachfolger "Ki.ss Me".

Und deswegen ist es meiner meinung nach perfekt!

Sehr ho.mogen und hypnotisch und mit den Übersongs "Close To Me" und "Six Different Ways" gesegnet.

Es ist nur ein Übergangsalbum. Sehr durchwachsen und zerfahren. Nicht mein Fall. Die beste Cure-Platte ist und bleibt Disintegration.

Ich finde das Album auch am gelungensten. Mir ging die perverse Fröhlichkeit der "Kiss Me" schon immer aufm Geist. Und auf der "Disintegration" waren mit die Sysnthies immer zu aufdringlich.

Das Saxophonsolo auf A Night Like This ist eines der ganz wenigen wirklich guten Saxophonsoli der Popgeschichte.

Ansonsten: Super Album. Eine schnörkellose, abwechslungsreiche Sammlung von 10 Popsongs. So konzis war die Band sonst auf keinem Album.

Korrekt: ein Übergangsalbum. Aber ein sehr gutes. Und "A Night Like This" ist natürlich Gott.

Warum "Kiss me kiss me kiss me" hier als fröhliches Album dargestellt wird, ist mir schleierhaft. Klar gibt es Songs wie "Why Cant´t I be you", die schon penetrant poppig sind. Aber es gibt eben auch Songs wie "If Only Tonight We Could Sleep" oder vor allem das eröffnende "The Kiss":

Na ja, bestes wohl nicht, aber 8, 8,5 meiner Meinung nach schon - "Kyoto Song", The Blood", "A night like this" und "Sinking" sind grandios.
Keine gerade Linie, aber wunderbare

Seventeen Secods ist eins ihrer besten.

The Head On The Door ist, wie die anderen poppigeren 80er-Alben für mich auf Albumlänge nicht ganz so berauschend, aber mit starken Highlights.

Seventeen Seconds ist ein überambitioniertes, vorschnelles Album.

Ein Jahr zuvor erschien Three Imaginary Boys, ein allerhöchstens "gutes" (6-7/10) Album bar jeglichen eigenen Charakters. Zu verzeihen für ein Debüt, gab weitaus Schlechtere. Aber das ist eine höchst naive, verspielte Band, (Subway Song!) klanglich im seichten Pop-Punk.

Was für einen Müll man sich zusammenschreiben kann :D

Seh ich auch so mit "A Night Like This" mein lieblings Song von der Platte. Aber die Platte geht auch runter wie Öl. Hat bis vielleicht auf "Screw" keinen Ausrutscher.

Weit weg von einem Lieblingsalbum. Bin bei den Einzelsongs ziemlich exakt bei einer glatten 7/10. Und wie bei fast allen Alben von The Cure ist die Spannweite der Bewertung riesengroß. Das habe ich bei keiner anderen Lieblingsband innerhalb eines Albums.

So gut kenn ich das Album aber nicht. Vielleicht 7 Mal gehört in den letzten 5 Jahren.

Kyoto Song ist dann gleich ne ganze Spur düsterer. Auch karger instrumentiert. Vielleicht an der Schnittstelle von Pornography zu den poppigeren Stücken dieses und des nächsten Albums.

Jo, von diesem dichten, sogartigen Sound sind sie hier noch ein ganzes Stück entfernt. Dafür sind viele verschiedene Einflüsse zu hören. Fast schon orientalisch manchmal.

Wenn ichs poppig mag, find ich das hier schon ganz gut. Kiss Me ist mir manchmal etwas zu lang und anstrengend, auch wenn es vielleicht die besseren Einzelsongs hat.

Wish als etwas leichtgängigeres Disintegration hat auch was. Für die ganz dunklen Stunden dan Pornography. Ist also ganz stimmungsabhängig.

Bisher find ich das alles gut, aber mir fehlt etwas die Stimmung eines "Faith" oder gar "Disintegration". Mir alles zu nett gerade. Robert ging es damals offensichtlich gut.
