In diesem Song thematisiert sie ihre Krankheit. Bei Avril wurde im Jahr 2014 Lyme-Borreliose diagnostiziert.

Preceded by a heartfelt letter to her fans on social media last week, ³Head Above Water² details the personal side of Avril¹s journey through her widely reported on battle with Lyme Disease. The singer co-wrote the song, which hinges on stark piano chords and her powerhouse vocals, to share the most intimate look at her experience and how she has emerged stronger than ever. ³One night, I thought I was dying, and I had accepted that I was going to die. My mom laid with me in bed and held me. I felt like I was drowning. Under my breath, I prayed ŒGod, please help to keep my head above the water.¹ In that moment, the song writing of this album began. It was like I tapped into something. It was a very spiritual experience. Lyrics flooded through me from that point on,² said Avril.



Coinciding with the music release, Avril is continuing to bring the strong messaging of Head Above Water through The Avril Lavigne Foundation. The Foundation has launched a charitable t-shirt campaign that will raise funds to directly impact individuals affected by Lyme that wouldn¹t otherwise be able to afford treatment. Mit „Tell Me It´s Over“ hat die vielfach Grammy-nominierte Sängerin kürzlich den nächsten Vorboten aus ihrem kommenden Album ausgekoppelt. Das Video feierte seine exklusive Premiere auf YouTube und ist HIER zu sehen. Gleichzeitig gab der kanadisch-französische Megastar den Titel, das Veröffentlichungsdatum und die Tracklist ihres ungeduldig erwarteten sechsten Studioalbums bekannt: „Head Above Water“ erscheint am 15. Februar 2019 via BMG!



„Ich habe mich auf diesem Album wirklich weit geöffnet“, so die Musikerin über ihren kommenden Longplayer. „Weiter, als jemals zuvor. Jeder einzelne Song erzählt eine Geschichte, die andere hoffentlich dazu inspiriert, an sich selbst zu glauben, für das aufzustehen, was sie für richtig halten und was sie wirklich verdient haben!“



„Der Song `Tell Me It´s Over` ist eine Hymne an das Starksein. Darauf, einen Schlussstrich unter eine gescheiterte Beziehung zu setzen, nachdem man immer und immer wieder auf die gleichen Spielchen hereingefallen ist“, so Avril weiter über ihre neue Single. „Lass dir nicht gefallen, wenn dich jemand nicht so behandelt, wie du es eigentlich verdient hast. Oft ist es nicht ganz leicht, dieser Situation zu entkommen, weil man immer wieder auf diese Person reinfällt, wenn man sie wiedersieht und sich jedesmal wieder aufs Neue einwickeln lässt. Doch das ist jetzt vorbei! Der Gesang und auch der Text haben eine sehr verletzliche Seite; sie spiegeln die Gefühle wider, die ich selbst schon in derartigen Beziehungen durchlebt habe. Ich wollte eine klassische Geschichte erzählen und habe mich von den Platten einiger wirklich zeitloser Künstlerinnen inspirieren lassen, die bei mir Zuhause jeden Tag rauf und runter laufen: Starke Frauen wie Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin oder Etta James – Frauen, die sich für andere Frauen einsetzen und die sich diesen Bullshit von Männern nicht länger bieten lassen!“



Mit „Tell Me It´s Over“ veröffentlicht Avril Lavigne die zweite Single nach „Head Above Water“, die bisher mehr als 125 Millionen weltweite Streams verzeichnet und die ihre erster neuer Song seit mehr als fünf Jahren ist. Ja.

Mit dem titeltrack hat sie den besten song seit mehr als einer Dekade veröffentlicht. Vereinzelt schöne melodien und auch lyrische Verbesserungen.

Im gesamtkontext ist das album mit einer 4 gut bedient. Schade, dass sie es wieder nicht geschafft hat an under my skin ranzukommen.
