Tom DeLonge posts this message over at Absolutepunk.net... no-one believes it's him.

"Hello everybody, this is a first for me, but I couldn't wait any longer. I have a new band called "Angels and Airwaves" and it is the most amazing music I have ever made by a long shot. You all must know, I didn't want Blink to go on hiatus, but it had to....you all will learn why...soon, but I swear to god, I am two songs from finishing the best fucking album anybody has heard in 20 years. In the next couple of weeks, you will all hear about the new band as well as the movie that is being made to tell the story of the album. But no matter what is said, or talked about, no matter what rumors are started, this is the best music made in decades....It is so much more powerful, emotional and melodic than Box Car and Blink put together, that I am currently shitting my pants, and your pants as well....until you hear more, all I can say is hold on, and prepare- Tom "I love my fans, and I promise I will not let you down, the music that we all grew to charish that was made, not only will continue, but it will be much, much better...."

Some time later, the website confirms... it was Tom DeLonge.

Also richtig geil.
Freu mich schon total

Tom DeLonge Breaking Silence On Blink With Autobiographical LP, Movie
10.03.2005

Guitarist/singer says he hasn\'t spoken with bandmates since hiatus.

Tom DeLonge wants you to know that his new band, Angels & Airwaves, will probably change the way you listen to rock and roll, will more than likely alter your life and will most definitely be the most famous band in the world. You\'ve just got to

\"Playing music in the wake of the Blink thing was like finding love in the middle of a war zone.\" - Tom DeLonge

give him some time.

\"Right now, I\'m a song and a half from finishing the greatest album of my career, and I swear it\'s going to be something that will compete with the greatest rock records of all time,\" he enthused. \"Within two years, we\'ll be the biggest rock act in the world. There\'s never been a rock band from America that sounds like us. And I hope that what I just said raises more than a few eyebrows.\"

This isn\'t the first time he\'s said all this. Just last month, he released a statement expressing those exact same sentiments, a move that sent Blink fan sites abuzz with excitement — and a bit of resentment, too (see \"Blink\'s Tom DeLonge Promises \'The Greatest Rock And Roll Revolution\' \"). But despite the fair share of naysayers that his statement stirred up, DeLonge isn\'t backing down from his earlier assessments. In fact, he says he\'d like to take them all one step further.

\"Like I said, there\'s never been a band from America that sounded like this. Pink Floyd, the Cure, the Police, U2, Coldplay — they all come from Europe — and this band, it has the conceptual depth of Pink Floyd, it has the anthemic architecture of U2 but it has the energy and youthful vibrancy of Blink. I\'m freaking out,\" he laughed. \"And I\'m not saying this lightly. Every single person who\'s heard the music understands. If I ever had the chance in my life to do something on a whole different level from anything I\'ve ever done before, this is it.\"

Tom Delonge has spoken exclusively to Kerrang! about his new project Angels and Airwaves.

In his first interview since Blink 182 announced in February of this year that they were taking an 'indefinite hiatus', Delonge has revealed how he was inspired to get a new band together while the punk-pop trio were touring Europe at the end of last year, in support of their last self-titled album.

"Just before all the blink 182 shit happened when we were in Europe, i has a really wierd epiphany," Delonge confesses to K!, "My heart was beating about 100 miles a mintue for three weeks straight and it had never happened to me before in my life. I really felt like i'd been touched by something and i felt i was meant to do something massive."
Delonge started working on the fourthcoming Angels And Airwaves album which is expected to be released in April, shortly after blink went on hiatus. Recording took place in the Foo Fighters' Los Angeles studio. "As the new record started coming together, it was so beyond my expectations," he says. "I honestly think that people are going to flip out when they hear this. I'm not even joking right now, it's so good. It's so much better than anything i've ever done and i think people will suspect God came down and wrote half of it!"

"It sounds like it has the conceptual depth of Pink Floys, the anthemic architecture of U2 but with Tom from blink writing all the melodies," Delonge adds. "All the songs are very cinematic, anthemic and epic-sounding. The music sounds angelic. Every song gives you the chills and you feel like you want to cry but you're conquering the world at the same time. It sounds like stadium rock done by a band that's meant to be the absolute biggest band in the world."

Angels and Airwaves also includes guitarist David Kennedy (Boxcar Racer/Hazen Street) and drummer Atom Willard (Rocket From the Crypt/ The Offspring). At the time of the interview, Delonge couldn't announce the name of the bassist, but internet reports last week stated that Ryan Sinn formerly of The Distillers, has joined AAA.

A DVD is also currently being made, which will accompany the band's forthcoming debut album.
"The movie is a third documentary, a third love story and a third CGI," he explains."It's the story of the album, which is the story of the break-up of one of the biggest bands in the world and the creation of the world's greatest band.

"We're currently making the CGI sequences and we're working with one of the leading art supervisors of 'Star Wars'. It's incredible stuff," Delonge adds. "The documentary part is about me, my life and creating the new band and the love story is about a girl that's on drugs and a guy that's running from his life and they come in contact with the music and it changes them. The whole idea is that even though there is struggle in your life you can find happiness and love within the worst of times."

The frontman is feeling extremely confident about his new band's potential, even going as far to suggest that his former bandmates, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, who have formed a new band called Plus 44 together, will be disgruntled when they hear the album.

"When i sat around planning this, i thought, 'Not only am i going to be back but i'm going to be about 10 times bigger that i ever was. I feel like there's nothing that can stop me," he says. "All the bands say that they're going to be the biggest band in the world but no-one has any idea what i'm doing. Once they find out, they're all going to say, 'Shit, fuck! We've got a lot of work to do. When this band lands on the world next year, it's going to be like the second coming of Christ!"

"I always though Blink 182 was my life but i've realised that it wasn't, it was just the first stepping stone," Delonge admits "I've heard Plus 44 and it's totally different to what I'm doing. They (Hoppus and Barker) are amazing musicians but i wouldn't want to be in their situation when this record comes out next year. That's how confident i am about this."

"This has been a crazy few weeks...we have started our last song, and we had this little rule about 9 months ago, which said every new song we did had to be better than the last...well, there was no way I thought that really was possible...but it happend. This last song has given me the chills every time I hear it. Ryan just finished some bass tracks, in-between episodes of Ali-G., and me and David have been talking long walks on the beach at sunset with our shirts off. There is also quite a little treat coming to you on my birthday...I promise that you will love it."

"We have spent quite a lot of time planning how to make a new era of rock and roll, and this film and album I think are going to help with that. Imagine a record with 6-7 minute long songs, full of anthemic, melody and long intro's, but it sounds totally different...like the next step you would expect. A couple song titles...The Adventure...Valkyrie Missile...It Hurts...I am building the web site right now, it will have clips of the film, song excerpts, photos, merchandise, video stills and clips as well. It will be here with in 30 days or so. Who do we think we are...we are Angels and Airwaves."

Neuer Artikel aus dem Kerrang Magazin.

"Tom Delonge is getting ready to launch his new much anticipated new band Angels and Airwaves. Althought DeLonge and his bandmates are still working on their debut album, which isn't expected to be released until April, an exclusive song will be made available through iTunes on December 20th.

"We're going to release a six-and-a-half minute song, a trailer for the movie and possibly a video, as well," DeLonge tells Kerrang!.

"It will all be available through iTunes. The Song is called 'Valkerie Missile' and it's kind of a flagship track for the band. Choosing a song was hard for a day or two, because it will be the first thing people will hear, but we all came back to this one. It's really exciting and I can't wait for people to hear it."

On Tom DeLonge's agenda for 2006: a) complete the debut album from his new band, Angels & Airwaves; b) finish the feature film that accompanies that album; c) completely change the face of rock and roll; and d) create an entirely new generation

"I'm going to usher in this entire new culture of the youth, obsessed with the future." — Tom DeLonge

of music fans out of the lumpy, unmotivated masses.

He also plans on directing a few videos, doing some charity work, launching an Angels & Airwaves world tour and taking up interpretive dance.

(Just kidding about that last thing.)

Regardless, it's shaping up to be quite a year for DeLonge, who's made no bones about making Angels the biggest band in the world by the end of '06 (see "Blink's Tom DeLonge Promises 'The Greatest Rock And Roll Revolution' "). So it's no surprise that he's getting an early start on things, launching an Angels & Airwaves podcast on Tuesday that will serve as the band's formal introduction to the planet.

"It's going to be a really big day for us, and for music," DeLonge said. "We're going to be introducing the band, playing some snippets from the movie and just kicking the whole thing off in general. I've been working on this project for 12 months now, so yeah, I'm pretty excited by the whole thing."

The podcast will debut at MacbethFootwear.com — the Web site of DeLonge's shoe company — and on AngelsAndAirwaves.com, and it's just the first step in a very long and elaborate rollout for the band's new album, which DeLonge said will hit stores in April. And though he's still playing coy with some details, his hardline no-info stance does appear to be dissipating just a bit, and he let MTV News in on a few nuggets about the record.

"It's 10 songs long, and the total running time will be a little bit over an hour. Some of the song titles are 'Start the Machine,' 'It Hurts' and 'The Adventure,' " DeLonge said. "Everyone who's heard it says it's the best thing I've ever done, and I'm inclined to believe them. We haven't picked the first single yet because all 10 songs are absolute singles. That's been the hardest thing of all, trying to determine the first single."

Though it most certainly won't be the first single, DeLonge said that one track fans will be hearing sooner rather than later is "Valkyrie Missile," which he originally planned to release on December 13 but has since decided to hold until the new year.

"It's a great calling card for the band. It's the first song on the album and it's this massive soundscape," DeLonge explained. "It's named after the Valkyrie missile, which was built to carry nuclear warheads across the Atlantic. It's based on the idea of a missile headed your way, getting ready to annihilate life as we know it — but something great and special will come out of the aftermath. I kind of liken that to the last year of my life. When I was getting ready to leave the Blink world and thinking of starting the Angels & Airwaves world, I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I didn't know how amazing it would be."

While DeLonge is anxious to get the song out there, he's even more excited about just how fans will react to it. And in typical fashion, he's not exactly shy about expressing that excitement.

"In January the single and video will drop and you'll see a whole new generation of Mods appearing everywhere, based on the kids in the '60s on their Vespas that were interested in modern living and modern fashion," he laughed. "I'm going to usher in this entire new culture of the youth, obsessed with the future. Because we're not going to be one of those rock bands that take photos sitting on dirty curbs, pretending to be like every other rock band of the past 10 years. Angels & Airwaves will be all about the future."

Freu mich schon tierisch auf das Album :)

Beefy

21.12.2005 - 09:17

Beefy

22.12.2005 - 00:21
