Das Album „Wormslayer“ wurde bereits mit „Charge of the Light Brigade“ und „Broke as Folk“ vorgestellt, die beide die Technicolor-Energie und die himmlischen Vokalharmonien demonstrieren, die die Fans so lieben. Doch es gibt auch eine Weiterentwicklung, mit Momenten, die an pastoralen Folk erinnern (das auf Yeats verweisende „Dust“), ausgewachsenem Gothic-Gesang in „Little Darling“, der Bilder von Roy Orbison beim Jammen mit den Doors heraufbeschwört, und dann ist da noch der ausgedehnte Mantra-Metal des filmischen Showstoppers, des Titeltracks „Wormslayer“.

Kula Shaker have announced European headline tour dates in addition to the UK tour. They have just completed a North American headline tour, which led into a further run of US shows as special guests to their old friends, The Dandy Warhols.
Kula Shaker have always existed in an alternate reality. Emerging amid Britpop’s lad-culture swagger and retro-cool posturing, they stood out as a luminous anomaly — steeped in Sanskrit and sitar-drenched feedback, quickly becoming one of Britain’s most electrifying live acts. Fronted by the spiritually restless Crispian Mills, the band carved out their own mystical counter-narrative, fusing British psychedelia and eastern mysticism that felt less like a gimmick and more like an invocation. Phenomenal success soon followed. How many other artists can claim to have actually headlined Glastonbury twice in the same weekend? Scored one of the fastest selling double-Platinum debuts of all time, a run of Top 10 singles, and opened for Oasis at their era-defining Knebworth shows?
Now Kula Shaker are set to prove that they're back at the top of their creative game with the news that they will release their eighth album ‘Wormslayer’ on January 30th 2026.
The ‘Wormslayer’ album has already been previewed by ‘Charge of the Light Brigade’, ‘Broke as Folk’ and ‘Good Money’ is a story of a classic Faustian pact and part of a broader psychedelic opera that emerges throughout the wider record.
Crispian adds, “I hope people enjoy the twists and turns that this new record takes you on. We always loved those psychedelic records that had great songs, great production, great storytelling, and took you on a journey. We always dig into that kind of experience, because we’re that kind of band. Kula Shaker has a life of its own. We’re just passengers, watching it happen in realtime.”
The ‘Wormslayer’ album also sees Kula Shaker alchemise their restless, reckless live energy on record for the first time. Which makes the prospect of the return of their out-of-this-world live experience with a UK headline tour in February 2026 (boosted by a unique, immersive light display at each show) a tantalising one.
Ticket sales open on Friday, 17th October 10 am CEST. The album will be released on digital, black gatefold and CD formats, while the band’s official store offers a smokey purple gatefold vinyl and a CD, both of which include a signed insert.

About Kula Shaker
Kula Shaker emerged during the Britpop era, very much as an anomaly: their sound evoking echoes of Jimi Hendrix, The Doors and Deep Purple but with a spiritual ethos reminiscent of George Harrison’s ‘All Things Must Pass’, an energy befitting the optimistic zeal of the mid-’90s. Their debut track ‘Grateful When You’re Dead/ Jerry Was There’ a launched series of classic hits: the free-spirited rush of ‘Hey Dude’ (#2), the unstoppable hooks and Indian mantra vibes of ‘Tattva’ (#4) and ‘Govinda’ (#7) plus their famous take on the classic ‘Hush’ (#2).
Their debut album ‘K’ shot to #1 in the UK and achieved double-Platinum status as it simultaneously climbed charts across the world. Their second record, ‘Peasants, Pigs & Astronauts’, (produced by Bob Ezrin and Rick Rubin) also hit the Top 10 and delivered more hits in the shape of ‘Shower your Love’ and ‘Sound of Drums’. They resurfaced sporadically between 2007-2016, during which time Mills wrote and directed two feature films, until they began a new era of creativity with ‘1st Congregational Church of Eternal Love and Free Hugs’ in 2022, followed soon after by ‘Natural Magick’ in 2024 which was supported with coverage including NME, The Line of Best Fit and Louder.
