Die Band ist Paul Wellers Projekt, das er 1982 nach der überraschenden Auflösung von The Jam zusammen mit Keyboarder Mick Talbot (Dexys Midnight Runners) gründete. „Café Bleu“ zeichnet sich durch Wellers Auseinandersetzung mit anspruchsvolleren Klängen wie Jazz, Soul und Pop aus.
