Eve Owen - So Still For You (Official Video) EVE OWEN kündigt ihr Debütalbum „Don't Let The Ink Dry“ an, das am 8. Mai 2020 über 37d03d veröffentlicht wird. Das Video zur mitreißenden, emotionalen neuen Single „So Still For You“ ist jetzt online. Die Regie zum Video führte Owens Schwester Hannah. „‚So Still For You’ is about how fleeting love can be, but how permanent words are", erklärt Owen. „By sharing my love in a song, it lasts forever." Über das Video sagt Hannah Owen: „We had a clear idea of what the song meant to us but we were equally really in love with the idea of seeing what came naturally once a camera was put in front of Eve. It’s so lovely to work as a two-person team. Every idea is valid and a strong contender—we can just play and follow whatever feels fun. The song is led by a delicate balance of vulnerability and wild power. I think for the video we just wanted to explore both themes honestly and see where it led us visually.“ „So Still For You“ folgt auf OWENs Debütsingle „She Says“, die Ende November veröffentlicht wurde und ebenfalls auf „Don't Let The Ink Dry“ zu hören sein wird. OWEN trat bereits mehrfach mit THE NATIONAL auf, unter anderem bei Jimmy Kimmel Live, und ist als Gastsängerin auf dem jüngsten THE NATIONAL Album „I Am Easy To Find“ zu hören. „Don't Let The Ink Dry“ ist ein Werk von extremer Sensibilität und Fantasie. OWEN nahm sich für das Album ganze drei Jahre Zeit. Während dieser Periode verbrachte die 20-jährige OWEN ihre Sommerferien mit Dessner in New York, wo sie mit ihm schrieb und Songs aufnahm. Dieser kreative Prozess war für OWEN eine willkommene Zuflucht von ihrem stressigen Schulalltag. Die Sängerin entdeckte ein neues Gefühl von Freiheit und Zugehörigkeit und entwickelte einen ganz eigenen Sound: wild aber doch zart, unruhig aber differenziert genug, um auch die flüchtigsten Gefühle einzufangen. Produziert wurde „Don‘t Let The Ink Dry“ von Aaron Dessner im Long Pond Studio (eine umgebaute Scheune und ein altes Bauernhaus tief im Hudson Valley). Passend zum Ambiente gibt OWEN sich stellenweise der Volksmusik hin, die sie allerdings mit elektronischen Experimenten anreichert. Mit Hilfe von Musikern wie dem Multi-Instrumentalisten Rob Moose (BON IVER, PERFUME GENIUS) und dem Pianisten Thomas Bartlett (alias DOVEMAN, der u.a. mit DAVID BYRNE, ST. VINCENT und FATHER JOHN MISTY gespielt hat) gelangen es ihr und Dessner, einen detailverliebten, experimentellen und eigenwilligen Sound zu entwickeln. „What I enjoyed most was that there were no rules", erklärt OWEN „I could say or do whatever I wanted without feeling judged, which is the most wonderful feeling when you’re working creatively with someone.“ Dessner fügt hinzu: „We ultimately recorded more than 40 songs over three years, and this first album feels like a collection of them. I enjoyed the process immensely. We felt free to imagine and chase whatever sounds or arrangements inspired us. In the middle of that time, she helped me make a NATIONAL song called ‚Where Is Her Head,’ which she fearlessly sang lead on. There’s so much Eve is capable of and I’m grateful to know her.“ Auf den Albumtitel kam OWEN während eines Siebdruckkurses: „It’s got to do with impermanence versus permanence”, erklärt sie. „I really like the idea that you can go through all these different changes in your life, but the root of who you are will always stay the same.” „Don't Let The Ink Dry“ behandelt intensiv OWENs Kampf mit Angst, Entfremdung, Verletzlichkeit und Selbsterhaltung. „I’ve always trusted people immediately with no question, but when you do come across the bullies, it reminds you that not everyone should have all that knowledge and insight into your insecurities”, stellt OWEN fest. „The odd thing about Hudson was that it was the first place I felt I could be honest and protected. Oh, Platte der Woche!! Und schon wieder eine weibliche Interpretin, wahnsinn was die Mädls konstant an Qualität rausbringen.

Puh, da werden gleich die Vorurteil-Hormone in mir geweckt über "Künstler"-Nachwuchs vom begnadeten Jimmy Blue Ochsenknecht bis hin zu Luna Schweiger. Der verlinkte Song ist aber tatsächlich schön, erinnert mich an Mazzy Star. Werde der Platte mal nen Durchlauf geben. Ergebnis dann später..
