NAPALM RECORDS NEWS!

LIFE OF AGONY – Recording With Tool Producer

SYLVIA MASSY On New Concept Album
The Sound Of Scars

Brooklyn, NY’s LIFE OF AGONY is currently tracking their highly anticipated sixth studio album The Sound Of Scars with esteemed producer Sylvia Massy (Tool, System Of A Down) at her recording studio Studio Divine in Ashland, Oregon. Additional recording will take place at various studios in New York. Sylvia Massy will also handle mixing duties for the album. The Sound of Scars is expected to drop this fall from Napalm Records.

“Sylvia has a deep understanding of what this band is all about and we’ve wanted to work with her for a very, very long time,” says bassist Alan Robert. “Especially, since this is a concept album continuing the story of River Runs Red, we’re extremely grateful to have her on board to help capture the darkness, raw emotion and heaviness of the new material.”

“Life of Agony began boldly over 25 years ago with its hard musical discourse into the human condition, a darkly hued story which continues to evolve today,” explains Sylvia Massy. “This is a unique band with a remarkable history of personal discovery - a phoenix tale of flight, fire and resurrection. This month we begin again to record the latest chapter. I am excited to be the witness to the creation of the new Life of Agony album!”

The Sound of Scars marks the first LIFE OF AGONY album with new drummer Veronica Bellino, who joined the group last January and performed all-year long on LOA’s highly successful “Rise of the Underground” tour. Bellino is best known for her work with Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Jeff Beck, DMC, Richie Sambora/Orianthi, and Carmine Appice/Slamm.

Besides work on the album, LIFE OF AGONY has already announced a handful of dates for 2019, including a co-headlining show with Overkill on Friday, May 10th at PlayStation Theater in New York City, Wacken Open Air Festival in Germany on August 2nd, and Rhein Riot Festival in Cologne, Germany with Body Count on August 3rd.

Life of Agony Sets Significant Release Date for "The Sound Of Scars" and Pulls You Into the Pit with High Energy New Video!

On October 12th 1993, Life of Agony’s iconic debut "River Runs Red" was released. Hailed by Rolling Stone as “one of the greatest metal records of all time”, "River Runs Red" was an emotional concept album that focused on a troubled teenager’s inability to cope with what seemed to be the worst week of his life. The album connected to a broken generation in a visceral way through its cathartic message and hard-hitting approach, and the band developed a cult-following in the process.

Twenty-six years later, practically to the day, Life of Agony will continue the story of "River Runs Red" with "The Sound Of Scars," acting as a “chapter two” to their groundbreaking album. On October 11th 2019, the band comes full-circle and picks up exactly where their debut left off, revealing just what happened to the troubled boy through intense audio scenes.

Now the band has just premiered a video for the song "Scars." Watch LOA's brand new and high energy video straight out of the pit HERE!

"The Sound of Scars" is available for pre-order AT THIS LOCATION!

It is available in the following formats:
CD Jewel Case
Digital Album
1LP Gatefold Black
1LP Gatefold Gold
1LP Gatefold BloodRed
CD + Shirt Bundle
1LP + Shirt Bundle
Deluxe Box

“By far, this is the best Life of Agony record you’ve heard in years,” explains guitarist Joey Z. “We really went back to our roots on this one and tapped into the mindset we had when we first started the band.”

The group recently toured Europe where they filmed a chaotic, high-energy video for lead-off track ‘Scars’ with director Leigh Brooks of Firebelly Films. “We decided to perform right in the middle of the pit to capture what it’s really like to be at a Life Of Agony show,” said bassist Alan Robert. “It was a sweaty whirlwind of raw emotion and non-stop energy... something I’ll never forget. And to drive home the message of the song even further, we decided to include a handful of fan-submitted LOA tattoo images in there, too. Literally hundreds of them have been pouring in from fans all over the world and they looked so incredible, we had to use them. It just goes to show how deeply connected we all are through this music, both on an emotional and on a personal level.”

Life of Agony will embark on the S.O.S. World Tour beginning in England this October with Doyle (of the Misfits fame) and Evolution Empire supporting.

LIFE OF AGONY Unleashes Anthem for Survivors with New Music Video for ‘Lay Down’!

Watch HERE | Filmed Inside an Actual Haunted Mansion!

Following their hit single, “Scars”, released last month, LIFE OF AGONY has just unleashed its infectious follow-up “Lay Down” from their forthcoming concept record, The Sound of Scars, due October 11, 2019 (Napalm). Lead vocalist Mina Caputo’s intense delivery of the chorus lyrics “I won’t lay down and die,” gives a voice for anyone who has ever been stepped on, used up, and tossed aside.

“It’s an anthem for survivors,” says bassist Alan Robert. “We’ve all been through situations in our lives where everything seems completely hopeless. “Lay Down” is about believing in yourself when no one else will. Times when you really have to dig down deep to find that that last ounce of strength to keep on going.”

This powerful message ties to themes found on the group’s highly anticipated album, The Sound of Scars, which acts as “chapter two” to their groundbreaking ‘93 debut, River Runs Red.

While searching for a place to film the “Lay Down” music video, the band was invited to do the shoot inside an actual haunted mansion. “You could absolutely feel the spirits in those rooms,” Alan continues. “Especially in the basement where we heard that a murder took place.”

White Hill Mansion, located in Fieldsboro, NJ, was built over two hundred and fifty years ago on top of a Native American settlement. The historic location stood intact throughout the Revolutionary War and has been investigated countless times by paranormal researchers over the years. The mansion was even featured on the popular television series Paranormal Lockdown. The “Lay Down” music video was filmed by Leigh Brooks of Firebelly Films.
