'NOT THAT GIRL'

http://www.vevo.com/watch/girli/not-that-girl-(lyric-video)/GBUV71700237

NEW EP 'FEEL OK' OUT APRIL 21ST

LONDON HEADLINE SHOW AT ELECTROWERKZ THIS APRIL 11TH

Following on from an incredible 2016 that saw her take the UK by the pink, fluffy balls, London's most charismatic rising star GIRLI announces the release of new single 'Not That Girl', taken from her forthcoming new 'Feel OK' EP out this April 11th - which features Lethal Bizzle on the title track.

Opening her new single "Take off my clothes and it's me underneath them, this is full time not just me on the weekend", GIRLI's statement of intent is as strong as ever. 'Not That Girl' sees GIRLI's characteristic vocal comes to the forefront of the track whilst Black Butter signee and producer King Henry (Major Lazer, Beyoncé) provides a stripped back, slick beat. The 'Feel OK' EP also sees London grime MC Lethal Bizzle jump on the title track with GIRLI with production from Diztortion (Lethal Bizzle, Tinie Tempah) as well as finishing with the Dimitri Tikovoi-produced 'Find My Friends', which recalls the frenzied chaos and everyday observation of her earlier track 'ASBOys'.

Speaking on the track, GIRLI explains "'Not That Girl' is a shout out to the smirks I get on the tube for wearing what I wear, the horror in strangers' faces when they see my pink hair, the sneering guys outside the pub who think that I care. It is the quiet knowledge that as long as I continue to be who I am and not the girl that others would like me or expect me to be, that I will overall come out on top. It's a mockery of mockery, a song of low-key empowerment in knowing that you're the only one who understands why you do what you do."

One of London's most polarizing artists, GIRLI has been garnering a loyal fan base since the release of her debut double A side "So You Think You Can Fuck With Me Do Ya / ASBOys" in 2015. Since then GIRLI has come in leaps and bounds, working with a series of incredible producers and writers whilst being championed by the likes of i-D, DIY, Noisey and the Guardian.

GIRLI's live shows are a raucous whirlwind of teenage chaos from start to finish. Following a support tour with Oscar and a series of sold out headline shows (including a partnership with UK collective Girls Against) GIRLI will be heading out on the road again for two headline shows this April at London's Electrowerkz and Glasgow's Stereo.

NEW SINGLE

'FEEL OK' FEAT. LETHAL BIZZLE

WATCH THE VIDEO HERE

NEW EP 'FEEL OK' OUT TODAY 19TH MAY

Today sees everyone's favourite hotly-tipped London singer-cum-rapper GIRLI release brand new single 'Feel OK', the title track from her brand new debut EP of the same name, out for release via PMR this Friday 19th May.

Produced by legendary grime producer Diztortion (Lethal Bizzle, Tinie Tempah), 'Feel OK' is a dazzling synth heavy, open-hearted anthem that captures a nuanced feeling that lands outside the pop norms of adoration, heartbreak and friendship. The single sees one of grimes most respected MCs, Lethal Bizzle, jump on the track with GIRLI for an exhilarating verse.

Speaking on the track, producer Diztortion says "GIRLI is such a refreshing artist, her lyrical approach is so different as well as the beat she chooses. I love working with artists who think outside of the box and she is definitely one of them! The game has nothing like her". On the collaboration with Lethal Bizzle, Diztortion continues "I accidentally pressed play on the wrong record and Bizzle was like "What's that, play it?" I told him it was a new project I was working on and he went mad, he loved the vibe instantly. We paused our session and showed him a video of Girli. He asked for an open space on the record to lay a verse and the rest is history!"

The rest of the "Feel OK" EP is comprised of three polished and playful love letters to everyday life including previous single 'Not That Girl' and the punchy, grime fuelled closing track 'Find My Friends' that subverts the pop lean of the rest of the EP and pays its respects to The Streets and the moment that occurs when you've lost everyone you know at a warehouse party!

The past 12 months have been a filled with ground-breaking moments for the 19 y/o star in the making. Following another sold-out homecoming show at London's Electrowerkz as well as Glasgow's Stereo, GIRLI has just hit the road as main support for similarly buzzed Declan McKenna.

Powerful, political and pink are the fundamentals of GIRLI's ethos and unlike so much of Britain's pop landscape, GIRLI does not fade easily into the background. She has already made a lasting mark on the UK music scene with her unique brand of (anti) pop that has seen support from the likes of The Guardian to Noisey as well as Beats1's Julie Adenuga & Radio 1's Phil Taggart & Huw Stephens.

PREORDER THE EP NOW - https://GIRLI.lnk.to/EPHotMessPR

London's most unapologetic, Gen-Z popstar GIRLI today shares details of her upcoming 'Hot Mess' EP. The EP's title track is available to buy and stream now via PMR - https://GIRLI.lnk.to/HotMessPR - with the full EP landing Tuesday September 26th.

"Hot Mess is about all the times I've been talked down to, patronised, told that i should change my songs, my look, my presentation… just because I'm a woman making music and not a guy." The title track from GIRLI's 'Hot Mess' EP is her rallying cry; a mantra against the patriarchal music industry. "Women are allowed to be loud, to speak their mind, to wear what they want and not be shamed for it, to be taken seriously whatever makeup they have on their faces or however much of their cleavage is showing. This song is my way of saying that!"

The 'Hot Mess' EP is a four-track collection of punchy aggro-pop gems. Described by i-D as "one part riot grrrl with a sprinkling of cybergoth on top", GIRLI's tongue-in-cheek lyricism paired with future-facing production has caught global attention over the last 12 months. 'Hot Mess' is her latest offering since the release of 'Feel Ok', a collab between GIRLI and grime legend Lethal Bizzle. After a summer of playing live across the country, GIRLI's next live shows will be a slot at Manchester Pride on August 27th and supporting Alma at XOYO on 30th September with more headline shows to be announced soon.

REVEALS VIDEO FOR 'MR 10PM BEDTIME'

London's most unapologetic, compelling popstar GIRLI today shares the video for 'Mr 10pm Bedtime' - http://po.st/Mr10pmYT. This is the latest track taken from the 'Hot Mess' EP - available to buy and stream now across all platforms.

The new video sees GIRLI take on her next door neighbour – the complete antithesis of the care free, vibrant, confident, pink popstar. Speaking about the new video GIRLI explains "This video is FUN VS LAME, PINK VS GREY, GIRLI VS MR 10PM BEDTIME. The conclusion is that light and colour and positivity and fun conquer darkness and dullness and negativity every time. I loved the idea of the split screen and being able to see both characters interacting and clashing with each other from either side of the wall, like in the video for Walk This Way by Run DMC & Aerosmith. Look out for me in a grey wig, flying tutus and some dodgy dance moves."

The EP is the latest offering since the release of 'Feel OK', a collab between GIRLI and grime legend Lethal Bizzle.

GIRLI has been taking her show on the road over the past few months after supporting the likes of ALMA and Kate Nash on tour as well as a headline UK tour which culminated in a packed out show at Dingwalls, Camden filled with crowd surfing and stage invasions!

London's most unapologetic and compelling popstar GIRLI releases brand new track "Play It Cool" today on PMR/Virgin EMI. The video for the new single is due to be release later this month.

https://open.spotify.com/track/0Cz7D99b3UjLmByXYwibYJ?si=w1-B3hgcSguP-QPqql7MkA

With Kinks-like power chords, infectious hooks and a decidedly cool nonchalant delivery, "Play It Cool" marks GIRLI's first new music since her recent "Hot Mess" EP. GIRLI ventures into DIY pop with the new single, calling bullshit on your typical fuckboi with her astute lyrical observations and a wry sense of humour.

After releasing a string of successful singles from the 'Hot Mess' EP, followed by writing sessions in Los Angeles, GIRLI has taken on a more alt-pop feel. Continuing to maintain her socio-political opinions and characteristically honest vibe, she recently spoke and performed at the #FreePeriodsProtest outside Parliament.

GIRLI comes alive on stage and has already wowed audiences across the UK with sell out shows at Dingwalls and Electrowerkz as well as recently supporting Alma and Kate Nash. This April sees GIRLI take her unmissable show across the UK, including a headline show at Highbury & Islington's iconic venue The Garage – full dates below.

The Guardian – “candy-punk kiss-off”

The Observer – “luminous youth-pop arriviste”

Noisey – “uber-millennial melting pot of influences”

i-D - “One part gobby pop star, one part riot grrrl with a sprinkling of cybergoth on top”

Today sees London’s most unapologetic and compelling popstar GIRLI release her latest single “Day Month Second” - out on PMR/Virgin EMI and available to stream and share on 7th June – listen HERE. The accompanying video for the track is due out early next month.

“Day Month Second” is an irresistible electro-pop bop that hits back at bad-boy behaviour. Epically catchy, “Day Month Second” sees post-breakup GIRLI encourage her tribe to live in the present, making for a euphoric track with a gritty dance feel. In the run up to the release, GIRLI encouraged her followers to post pictures, videos and tweets of themselves doing things that makes them happier along with the #DAYMONTHSECOND hashtag.

Speaking on the track, GIRLI says “‘Day Month Second’ is my breakup anthem. It’s about wanting to get over someone so bad but not being able to shake the memory of them and how they messed you around. It’s an angry, sad, but also liberating tune. STRUT DOWN THE STREET TO THIS. DANCE LIKE NO-ONE’S WATCHING. BLOCK THEM & BUY YOURSELF A PIZZA & SCREAM IN THE STREET!”

After releasing a string of successful singles from the ‘Hot Mess’ EP, followed by writing sessions in Los Angeles, GIRLI has taken on a more alt-pop feel. Continuing to maintain her socio-political opinions and characteristically honest vibe, she spoke and performed at the #FreePeriodsProtest outside Parliament last year.

Last month, GIRLI took her unmissable show across the UK, including a sold-out headline show at Highbury & Islington’s iconic venue The Garage. Today sees London’s most compelling and unapologetic popstar GIRLI release her new single “Young”, out now on PMR/Virgin EMI and available to stream and share now - https://GIRLI.lnk.to/Young. The track premiered earlier today on Dummy.

Exploring the difficulties of adolescence, "Young" is an anthemic track that sonically continues GIRLI’s path towards the pop music she grew up listening to. With layered synths, nostalgic lyrical observations and a characteristically catchy chorus, "Young" sounds like energetic electro-pop from the future. Before release, GIRLI curated a Spotify playlist to help her fans guess the name of the single.

Speaking on the track, GIRLI says “Young is about growing up and feeling like they taught you life wrong in school. It’s about feeling lost and directionless and confused but soldiering on and trying to live life to the fullest through all of the madness.”

After releasing a string of successful singles from the ‘Hot Mess’ EP, followed by writing sessions in Los Angeles, GIRLI has taken on a more mature alt-pop feel. GIRLI’s last single “Day Month Second” received great support from radio, with Lauren Laverne, Elton John and Annie Mac playing the track on their respective radio shows. Continuing to maintain her socio-political opinions and characteristically honest vibe, GIRLI recently spoke on sexuality, gender and music for Adwoa Aboah’s empowerment platform Gurls Talk and she performed at the #FreePeriodsProtest outside Parliament last year.

GIRLI takes her unmissable live show nationwide next month - including a headline date at London’s iconic gay nightclub Heaven. Tickets can be bought on DICE or Golden Voice - full tour dates below.

GIRLI ANNOUNCES DEBUT ALBUM ‘ODD ONE OUT’

DUE 5TH APRIL

SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘DEAL WITH IT’ OUT NOW

ANNOUNCES UK TOUR

Gay Times - “GIRLI is the feminist pansexual pop star you need to stan”

The Guardian – “candy-punk kiss-off”

The Observer – “luminous youth-pop arriviste”

Noisey – “uber-millennial melting pot of influences”

i-D - “One part gobby pop star, one part riot grrrl with a sprinkling of cybergoth on top”

DIY – “pop to shock the system”

The Guardian – “playful feminist DIY pop embodies new era of indie”

Today sees London’s very own brazen popstar GIRLI announce her debut album Odd One Out, due on 5th April via PMR/Virgin EMI - Pre-Order HERE. In conjunction with her album announcement, GIRLI shares her latest single Deal With It - Listen HERE. GIRLI’s headline tour will coincide with her album release and she will take to the road from 5th April performing across the UK (tickets on sale February 1st).

The highly anticipated debut album ‘Odd One Out’ was co-written by GIRLI with various collaborators such as Fast Friends and MNDR / Peter Wade (Charli XCX, Brooke Candy) written and recorded in Los Angeles. ‘Odd One Out’ follows from GIRLI’s Hot Mess EP and features fan favourites Day Month Second, Hot Mess and Young. The 8-track album marks the new mature alt-pop sound from GIRLI. Drawing inspiration from real life experiences ‘Odd One Out’ explores identity and the difficulties of adolescence.

Speaking on the record GIRLI says “‘Odd One Out’: something or someone in a group that is different or exceptional, that does not fit. All the songs on this album are about feeling different from others. There’s a song about being rejected in love, and how it made me feel like I wasn’t good enough to be loved like everyone else is. There’s a song about being talked down to because of my gender, one about being judged by others because of the way I dress or the way I dance or because of what colour I choose to have my hair. there’s one about how I used to live life vicariously through movies while I waited for life to happen to me. There’s a song about my struggles with mental health, about feeling overwhelmed by social media and how it makes you want to live up to other people’s expectations, about faking it to people because it’s easier than telling them the truth. there’s a song about how life isn't what I expected it to be and how everyone else seems to be doing fine while I’m confused and freaking out.

She continues “But this isn't a sad album. These are happy songs because they’re part of me learning to love who I am. I’ve always felt like the odd one out, and chances are because you’re reading this, you have too. I hope when you listen to these songs, you hear things you relate to, and that they make you feel like you’re not alone.”

Alongside the new album, GIRLI has also released lead single ‘Deal With It’, set to be one of GIRLI’s biggest to date, the electro-pop bop which embodies self-expression and youth - listen HERE. On the new single GIRLI explains “‘Deal With It’ is about embracing your weirdness and telling anyone who judges or questions your individuality to get over it. It’s about refusing to change who you are for other people and instead of saying that it’s their problem if they’re offended by who you are, not yours.”

After cancelling her 2018 tour due to illness, GIRLI has rescheduled the dates and will be taking her high octane live show on the road this April seeing her perform around the UK including a London show at Islington Academy - full tour dates below with tickets going on sale February 1st.
