Bin sehr gespannt.

Als Alben insgesamt sind für mich There are no Goodbyes und People are like Seasons etwa gleichauf.

A big HELLO to everyone!

I'm sorry I don't have more time to write but everything is just going so crazy at the moment.

My album promotion is starting to kick off now and I have a press day in Brussels tomorrow, fly to Italy and am in Rome on Monday and Milan on Tuesday, then I fly Cologne on Wednesday and then to Berlin on Thursday, then back to London to start getting everything ready for the tour.

It's just go go go and, to be honest, after 7 years I really had forgotten how much work it all is. I'm not complaining (OK maybe a little) but I'm also just so happy for all the support, especially after all this time away, that I'm going to be a good boy (I promise) and not, as you Germans say, bitch about my "luxury problem" :)

Just a couple of things this time though like…. A NEW SONG FOR YOU! AND A COUPLE NEW SHOWS TOO!

First, if you haven't already noticed, we've added another couple shows: One in Germany and one in Holland!

First we've added another show in Holland (but very close to some of you Belgians too!) with my good friends at the Muziekgieterij in Maastricht. Wim Smeets (and along with his lovely family and his lovely colleagues at Bruis Festival) has invited us over for the night in between our Amsterdam and Cologne shows on 23/04. You can also thank him for inviting me to the Bruis Festival last summer which really helped, no really FORCED, me into getting my act together for the live shows and which subsequently pushed me to get this album finished too.

Get tickets here: 23/04 Sophia - Maastricht, Muziekgieterij (click link)

Then we had a day off in between Munich and Berlin and rather than sitting around eating Brezels and drinking Helles all day long (admittedly not a bad way to spend a day off!) we decided to spend what short time we have on the road this tour actually playing concerts so we called our good friends in Dresden and booked a show at Beatpol!

You can get tickets here: 29/04 Sophia - Dresden, Beatpol (click link)

I should also add that there are very few tickets left for Berlin (like a VERY few!) and tickets are also going very fast for both Cologne and Hamburg so don't wait too long, OK? Of course you can always take a little holiday and visit one of these other fine cities (Prague is particularly pretty this time of year!) but just in case you can't book your holidays around Sophia shows please try and get tickets for your home city!

22/04/16 Amsterdam, NL - Bitterzoet (tickets: bit.ly/1TArCrJ)
23/04/16 Maastricht, NL - Muziekgieterij (new show added) (tickets: bit.ly/1QBpYoK)
24/04/16 Koln, DE - Artheater (tickets: bit.ly/1LtNIuM)
25/04/16 Hamburg, DE - Nochtspeicher (tickets: http://bit.ly/1ShNKr9)
26/04/16 Brussels, BE - Botanique (sold out)
28/04/16 Munich, DE - Ampere (tickets: http://bit.ly/1LHruzX)
29/04/16 Dresden, DE - Beatpol (new show added) (tickets: http://bit.ly/1TSkOY3)
30/04/16 Berlin, DE - Kantine am Berghain (tickets: http://bit.ly/1RnpNto)
01/05/16 Prague, CZ - Divadlo Dobeška (tickets: http://bit.ly/1LHtvw3)
02/05/16 Vienna, AT - Chelsea (tickets: http://bit.ly/24qZD2G)
03/05/16 Graz, AT - Postgarage (tickets: http://bit.ly/1RpGcQO)
05/05/16 Zurich, CH - Bogen F (tickets: http://bit.ly/218gC5s)
06/05/16 Bologna, IT - Covo (tickets: http://bit.ly/1TGRMKG)
09/05/16 London, UK - Lexington (tickets: http://bit.ly/1oJVK8P)

And now… Another new song from As We Make Our Way (Unknown Harbours) which, don't forget, is released 15/04/2016...

It's called The Drifter. We actually previewed this song back in 2014 but this, this is the version. It's so old-school Sophia but at the same time there's something totally new-school Sophia about it too.

This is how it's been explained in the little promo blurb my labels are sending out today:

"Described by Robin as a countrified version of The Cure (remembering one of Robin's all-time favourite albums is The Cure's 17 Seconds), The Drifter takes the stripped back purity of Harvest-era Neil Young, layers it with the dark glowing ambience of a vintage Juno 60 synth (a rumoured a favourite of, you guessed it, The Cure) and ties it all together with a reverb-drenched guitar hook that could have come straight from a Morricone soundtrack."

And I think that pretty much sums it up! (Although I would have also liked to add that when I came up with the little piano motif I instantly thought of Nick Cave too. Maybe something off of Push The Sky Away? Not sure. But I feel Nick Cave in there too...)

I won't go into a long explanation about the lyrics but needless to say that after my last big love I did truly feel like a monster (Do I really only end up hurting the people I love?) and that disappearing, not from only relationships but hopefully from that life I knew, and the need to drift, was a very big part of these last 7 years… (the need to not allow any attachment in my life has since brought it's own type of complications and hurt to my love-life but at least I don't feel like a monster, right?)

Anyway. Enough of all that. Thinking too much again. I just hope you like song!

OK that's it. Time for bed. Need to be fresh for tomorrow so I can answer "So where have you been these last 7 years" about 15 time in a row! (And, well, I guess you all know that answer already, right? "Just drifting… " :)

Take care peoples and hope to see you all soon!

Lots of love,

Robin

Tropez" klaut frech beim eigen RIVER SONG. "You say it's alright" wirkt für mich etwas unfertig.
