She & Him - Volume 2

Leatherface	30.10.2008 - 16:51 Uhr Most M. Ward fans (myself included) have been pretty happy in the past two years despite not getting a new full length solo record from Matt. He has been busy after all, doing a EP and also the She & Him album with Zooey Deschanel. Well, it looks like we are about to get a bit happier as Matt has just finished a brand new album, titled Hold Time. He talked about it a bit with Paste. “I just finished a record that’s going to be out in February,” Ward tells Paste. “It’s called Hold Time. I’m excited for people to hear it. I tried a new balance on this new record. It’s a little hard to explain. There’s a lot of really big and heavy sounds that I attempted to balance with sounds that you can find in any guitar shop.” “It’s such a great album,” gushes his She & Him bandmate Deschanel. “I think it’s my favorite album… ever.” Ward also confirmed that a She & Him Volume Two is in the works and that “Zooey has about a gazillion brand new awesome songs. All we know about Volume Two is that it’s going to be twice as good as Volume One.” Excellent news eh? Have a great weekend!

Ward are not about to ruin a good thing. She & Him's Volume Two is due March 23 on Merge. The record contains 13 songs, including covers of NRBQ's peppy-but-sad "Ridin' in My Car" and 50s/60s country-pop starlet Skeeter Davis's "Gonna Get Along Without You Now". One of the new originals, "In the Sun", features guest vocals from indie-pop group Tilly and the Wall. In a recent interview, Zooey said a She & Him tour is also in the works for 2010.
