Ups, vergessen: http://www.visions.de/konzerte/tournee/5010.

Armin

Hab ich aber.
klostein
26.09.2003 - 18:51 Uhr
@Armin: Und welche, wenn man fragen darf?
Lukas
26.09.2003 - 18:58 Uhr

Hello!

Below are some newsy bits and euro dates for the Weakerthans. We're looking forward to saying hello to our friends overseas with the tour that starts tomorrow.

The Weakerthans NPRs On World Cafe, Dec 4th. On a rainy October day in
Philadelphia, the Weakerthans loaded up the three flights of stairs to
WXPN's recording room. No easy task, rain dripped down from the ceiling on to the old wooden stairs. There we recorded an interview and performance for US National Public Radio's World Cafe Show. The session will be broadcast on December 4th across America, follow the links below to find your localcarrier of World Cafe and their broadcast schedule. For those residing outside the US, look for NPR internet broadcast sites to listen in.

Mighty Kraken Strikes Again. Our co-conspirators Simon and Caellum shot a Music Video for us over the last weeks for our song Psalm for the Elks Lodge Last Call. The setting is the Winnipeg German Society Hall in the North End of Winnipeg. It features bizarre taxidermy, old men brawling, a ballroom full of slow dancing couples and the George Reznick Trio (plus Brent Parken) as the Weakerthans. Look for the video in late December. See the George Reznick trio every Saturday afternoon at the Pembina hotel in Winnipeg. They formed in 1969 and have played with everybody - even Satchmo.

The Weakerthans Hard Rock Hoodee. Local Tattoo and visual artist, Kurt
Wiscombe of Tattoos for the Individual (located right there on Portage Ave by the old Kings Theatre), designed a image for us (see it on the back of our hoodees as well as hidden in this web site). To see further dramatic and compelling work by this great guy and fantastic artist check our the link below. Thanks Kurt. http://tattoos.com/winnipeg/index.html

Our Trans-Continental Expedition North American Tour is completed! We have returned, to thanks to that trucker in Georgia that ran us off the road, jerk! We want our mirror back! We extend our gratitude to those who came out to wish us well on our journey and to those who made invaluable contribution to it's completion, (cast appears in order of appearance) Fembots, Jim Bryson and the Occasional Occasionals, The Constantines, Roy, Mico, Maritime, Carnations, Veal, and Nathan Lawr, with technical assistance provided by Do It and Paquin as well as Epitaph, Sub City, and G7.

PS Special thanks to the sharks off the Florida coast who did not bite my leg off, and to fireworks manufactures everywhere.

European Navigational Charting. In an effort to recapture in reverse the spirit of the great exploratory journeys of days gone by, the Weakerthans will be venturing into the heart of western Europe. Roads and Autobahns are of course well mapped out and maintained. Mountains, rivers and cities have all been named. Our journeys interest is to rediscover the perilous that still remains truly unknown to the world at large; forgotten band rooms, abandoned washrooms, strange unmarked kebab stands that never close, and small, very small, almost invisible to the naked eye, European hotel rooms. We have hired Akki, a renowned local travel guide expert in urban traffic patterns and local customs, to lead us through and ultimately out of the old world. The Journey begins November 27th, in the congested urban jungle of
London, England. See full details below:

This summer, the Weakerthans and their pimped out rides will be playing several festivals across Canada. See John K in his yellow 1986 Corvette Sting Ray (pop the hood for the real show- yeah - dropped out the engine - painted it glossy white), Jason Tait driving his 1979 Baby blue El Camino (the subs in this ride can crack pavement, air brish detail a must see), John P in his 1973 Gold Chevy Nova (check out the mods on this baby, the hydrolics can make this car do hand stands, sick.) and Stephen driving his Black 1974 Camaro (original condition, street racing dream, tol' classic).

Dates so far (check www.theweakerthans.org for further details):

16.07 Ottawa Blues Festival, Black Sheep Stage
23.07 Toronto Blues Festival
24.07 Calgary Folk Festival
25.07 Calgary Folk Festival

3.The Reasons

Over the past weekend, the Weakerthans shot a new music video for their song The Reasons. Based on a long lost 1956 classic musical, "The Jail Bird: Set Me Free", the Weakerthans, along with Director Benjamin Wienstien -- member in good standing of the Winnipeg-City-Of-Legend faction - revived the long lost script in the form of a raucous music video with all the dancing and chorus lines of a Broadway hit! See your local music video station for broadcast details.

Und wahrscheinlich in (ehemals) schwarzen Kappenschuhen.

My Favourite Chords : A soft, lovingly wishful songabout doing those cool things that cool couplesdo. Like leaving notes on the heavy machineryat construction tapes that let those workersknow someone cares. And you found the bestplace to keep all your tenderness for oneanother but your fondest wish is to run awayand fall asleep by the side of the highway, ina room near a truckstop. But all you do is givethat person your guitar and they sing youlullabies and the alphabets.

Jaaa!!!

"...when the bus-shelter windowws and napkin-dispensers surprise with distorted reflections it's never the someone you're hoping to recognize..."
"I'm lost, I'm afraid, a frayed rope tying down a leaky boat to the roof of a car on the road in the dark and it's snowing. If I'm more, then it means less, last call for happiness..."
