Every once in a while, something truly unique and mysterious, comes out of nowhere to stake its claim on pop culture as we know it…In 2009 few would have been expecting to have been accosted by Miike Snow, who until now, hidden behind the imagery of a mythical jackalope, the fabled horned rabbit have been churning out a slew of tracks and remixes that have set the blogospheres ablaze, amidst the inevitable questions of what, where & who is Miike Snow?...
A large portion of the people involved in the "creative" side of the music business spend their entire career dedicated to the singular goal of recognition, specifically the type that gets you recognized - be it magazine covers, billboards, TV, etc. In a culture obsessed with becoming famous, what do we make of artists who chose to remain anonymous? Or, for that matter, use the mystical jackalope as their visual representative?
Man? DJ? Robot? Miike Snow is actually a band.
Recorded in Stockholm in the 400 year old home used to house King Gustaf III's mistress,Miike Snow make pop music, but not as we know it, a pulsing soundtrack for lovers spurred on by hope, fear & redemption. They have created songs that lift and lull, where dark subject matter is used to create beautiful sonic illusions & stimulate euphoria. Miike Snow is a warm electronic record, rich with soul & heart that can soundtrack both dancefloor and darkness and life in between, that will make anonymity an impossibility.
Finally ready to step out of the studio, but not the shadows, Miike Snow is set to be released this summer, released in the US by the Downtown label (Gnarls Barkley) and in the rest of the world by Columbia Records.

@ Nieöls: Du ziehst das Pferd, das übrigens kein Zuhause ist, von hinten auf, du musst die Songs des Albums nennen, die keine Hits sind, das geht wesentlich schneller. |

Ja da hast du schon Recht, aber Cult Logic ist für mich nun mal der Überhit des Albums. Lediglich dem von dir genannten Lied fehlt das Hitpotential, der Rest ist ausnahmslos toll. |

Recht gutes Album, dessen schon etwas arg überdrehte synthetische Fröhlichkeit ich persönlich allerdings nicht in allen Momenten ertragen kann. Ist aber beim verwandten "Manners" von Passion Pit nicht anders, obwohl ich das eine Nasenlänge voraus sehe. Trotzdem: Im richtigen Augenblick ein Klasse-Album. 7/10 |

Weiß ja, dass du die Vocals von Passion Pit nicht so magst, aber du wirst doch nun wirklich nicht abstreiten wollen, dass die Arrangements, die Produktionsweise und die ganze musikalische Herangehensweise bei den beiden Bands mehr als offensichtliche Übereinstimmungen aufweisen, oder? |

Ich denke auch, da kann man genauso gut Empire Of The Sun oder die Pet Shop Boys anführen. Zumal ja Passion Pit mehr oder weniger MGMT mit furchtbarer Stimme kopiert haben.

Ihr seid ja putzig. Immer diese Referenzen. So weit ich das beurteilen darf: Diese LP macht Spaß. Über fast die komplette Albumlänge reiht sich ein Ohrwurm nach dem anderen. Toll.
Und noch eine Bitte: Ist einer der ehrenwerten Forumsmitglieder willens, mir einen Tipp zu geben, wo ich das Miike Snow als Vinyl erwerben darf? |

Also das ist doch quatsch. Gerade live merkt man, dass MGMT viel mehr rockband sein wollen als Passion Pit. Abgesehen von den offensichtlichen singles gibts bei MGMT viel weniger "elektro"-schnickschnack.
aber zum thema: Miike Snow finde ich irgendwie langweilig. vielleicht noch einmal ausprobieren... |

Ziemlich schoenes Pop-Album find ich.
Fast kein Ausfall, stimmungsmaessig kann ich eine Menge damit anfangen. Die Pitchfork 5.0 kann ich mal wieder nicht nachvollziehen, aber das ist ja oft so ;-) ... . |
