Placebo könnten sich schon wieder im Studio befinden, um Album Nummer 6 aufzunehmen!

Der Sänger Nicola Sirkis der Band Indochine hat beim französischen Radiosender Le Mouv für eine brodelnde Gerüchteküche gesorgt.

Laut seiner Aussage befinden sich Indochine momentan im Studio, um ein neues Album aufzunehmen und bei der Gelegenheit erwähnte er, dass sie das Studio mit einer Band aus England/Luxemburg teilen würden, die gerade erst ihren Schlagzeuger verloren hat.

Auf die Frage, ob die Band Placebo sei, schwieg er, jedoch betonte er, dass die Band und er insbesondere enge Freunde von Placebo seien.

Stefan Olsdal was yesterday the guest artist in the Spanish Radio 3 programme' Bienvenidos al Paraiso', as we previously announced here in Bionic. He was talking about his own experiences in Placebo, old stories mostly, as when Placebo met Bowie, Robert Smith, U2 etc.
He was also talking about the musical scene in Europe, and about Placebo's future. As he told us last week, the band will be back to the studio in Spring, they have already some new material to work with and they will work out some more in the studio, he said that maybe the new album will be out before the end of 2008, what is great news.
He also talked about his side project Hotel Persona, the album will be out in the next couple of months in the spanish version, and an english version will be out later. Anyway the songs in the album with guest voices will be only in their original version as he told us.

PLACEBO - THE RETURN!

Placebo are back in the studio working on a new album! The band finished their last touring campaign in September of last year in the USA (on the Projekt Revolution tour with Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance). Since then the band have taken some much needed time out and over the past couple of months have been hard at work writing and demoing new material in London. The boys are now recording with producer David Bottrill (the man behind Tool’s ‘Aenima’, ‘Salival’ and ‘Lateralus’ albums, Silverchair’s ‘Diorama’ and dEUS ‘The Ideal Crash’). Engineering the album is James Brown who worked with the band on ‘Meds’.

...And on the drums with Placebo...?????!!!!! Introducing... Mr Steve Forrest! Hailing from Modesto, California, he was previously the drummer with American rock band, ‘Evaline’. Some of you may have spotted Steve playing with Evaline supporting Placebo on their US tour in October '06.

@Leatherface: Tu der qualitativen Anhebung Deines Geschmacks einen Gefallen und gib zu, dass die letzten beiden Alben fast gänzlich unnötig waren (d.h. von ein paar Songs abgesehen nur bereits Bekanntes wiederholt haben).

Der Höhepunkt war "Without You I´m Nothing". Seitdem geht es bergab. "Sleeping With Ghosts" war noch aktzeptabel, klingt aber von der Produktion schrecklich elektroschrottig. Meds ist bis auf 1-2 Songs (z.B. Cold Light Of Morning) zu radio-/massenorientiert bzw. poppig und man meint, alles schon einmal gehört zu haben.

Nö. Die Meds ist ihr zweitbestes Album nach "Without You I'm Nothing". Und ich verbitte mir solche grenzenlos arroganten Formulierungen wie "Tu der qualitativen Anhebung Deines Geschmacks einen Gefallen".

wieso unterschätzen so viele "sleeping with ghosts"?? ich find e das ist ein klasse sound, eine nische, die es vorher in dieser weise noch nicht so richtig gab... also so gesehn schon eine "neuerung" (weil jeder immer so tut als ob alles soo gleich klingt) außerdem: auf der "without im nothing" gab es einige starke songs... aber was bitte ist mit "burger queen", "sweet prince", und den ganzen anderen letzteren tracks? oder soll das etwa abwechslungsreich sein, ballade hinter ner noch langsameren ballade?
natürlich gebe ich zu ist es schwierig gleichzeitig seinen eigenen sound zu finden und parallel dazu "innovativ" zu bleiben. das ist immer eine gratwanderung wie man an diesem gespräch sieht...
aber um ehrlich zu sein: ich bin froh, dass es solche bands wie placebo, muse, radiohead, the cure, etc. gibt die ihren eigenen sound haben und auch mehr als 2 alben rausgebracht haben. solche bands sind meiner meinung nach viel spannender als truppen, wie man sie jetz zu hunderten um die ohren geschlagen bekommt, die dann gleich wieder im "indiesumpf" versinken (und von denen vll 5% so etwas wie einen "eigenstädigen sound" besitzen!)...

"Sleeping With Ghosts" wird wirklich unterschätzt, wie das wunderbar homogen fließt und strömt, und dabei doch einen positiven Vibe versprüht!!!

"Meds" ging in verschiedene, dünklere Richtungen, probierte an den Songs vieles aus...

finde nicht, dass sie nichts mehr hergeben...
bei MUSE könnte die These allerdings schon etwas hinkommen ^^

seit sie zwei jahre lang zu meds getourt sind, ewig mit genau der selben setlist, sind sie mir verleidet. aber mit neuen songs kommt dann bestimmt auch wieder die freude.

Freue mich auch irgendwie noch, wobei ich die letzten beiden Alben bis auf ein paar große Momente (wirklich ein paar mit kleinem 'p') für nur gutdurchschnittlich befunden habe. Mein Liebling ist allerdings eindeutig die "Black market music", da dort Düsterkeit und Dämonie mit großen Melodien vereint sind.
"Without you I'm nothing" finde ich wiederum überschätzt.

Ach hier treiben sich Dan und Leatherface rum und verteitigen kräftig und pöbeln woanders...

"Without you I`m nothing" find ich auch überschätzt. Paar tolle Klassiker aber für mich gings ab "Black Market Music" in die richtige Richtung. Ich versteh die Aufregung um "Sleeping with ghosts" nicht, das Album is fantastisch und "Meds" ist für mich deren bestes Album. Da ist ein Ohrwurm nach dem anderen drauf und wiedermal schön düster - erinnert mich ans erste Album nur viel viel besser!

Ich mach mir da keine Gedanken, das wird schon funktionieren - solange der Bassist und der Sänger nicht ausgetauscht werden, tut das der Band keinen Abbruch. Wär ja nicht das erste mal der der Schlagzeuger ausgewechselt wurde.
Ich freu mich riesig auf neues Material!

Meds beinhaltete für mich nur das beste aus allen vorherigen Placebo-Alben.

Meds, Infra Red, Space Monkey, Follow the cops back home, Post blue, Blind, Because I want you, Pierrot the clown, In the cold light of morning, Song to say goodbye

sind wirklich gute Songs mit unterschiedlichen Themen und verschieden Richtungen. Das Album ist Perfektion!

Die Erwartungen an den neuen Longplayer sind verdammt hoch.
Ich wünsche mir das sie die düstere Melanchonie und die Elektroeinflüsse beibehalten.

sign Placebo's new album to a pan-European service deal.

Having sold more than 9 million albums in their 12 year career, Placebo
will henceforth retain full control of their sound recordings, releasing
their new album through [PIAS] UK's Integral service, and on the
continent through [PIAS] Entertainment Group's international network of
local offices and affiliates.

In addition to the distribution and sales of physical and digital
products, [PIAS] have well-established local in-house marketing and
promotion teams covering radio, press, on-line and mobile. [PIAS] will
develop bespoke, fully managed marketing and PR campaigns in close
consultation with Placebo on a territory-by-territory basis.

Placebo's sixth studio album follows 2006's globally chart topping
'Meds' (#1 in France, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Greece, Mexico,
Chile). It also marks the first recorded appearance of the band's
newest recruit, drummer Steve Forrest. The, as yet untitled, album was
produced by David Bottrill and mixed by Alan Moulder, and is scheduled
for release in June this year.

Placebo frontman Brian Molko said "We are delighted to be signing with

Ich bin gespannt. Die "Meds" höre ich eigentlich immer wieder gerne. Ich wage auch mal wieder auf einen Übersong wie "Song To Say Goodbye" zu hoffen.
Nur bitte keine übermäßigen elektronischen Experimente, das hat die ganze "Sleeping With Ghosts" etwas runtergezogen.

Sleeping With Ghosts war die bisher beste und die kalten elektronischen Klänge (English Summer Rain, Running Up That Hill) passen wie die Faust aufs Auge zu dieser Stimme!

Aber Steve Hewlitt ist raus?
Ich dachte, der Bassist ging wegen seinem Hotel Persona?
Scheiße. Grade der Drummer war der coolste von den dreien.

Aber nicht besser. Zumal sich doch einige Elemente auf "Meds" wiederfinden, wie ich beim kürzlichen Wiederhören festgestellt habe. Nur eben besser dosiert und platziert.

Ich empfinde Meds als deren bestes Album - liegt vll. hauptsächlich daran das ich beim dazugehörigen Konzert dabei war und sich die Songs so stark eingeprägt haben!
