Der Opener ist direkt so ein Brett. Überlänge, soundtechnisch total ungewöhnlich, wie der Song übers Autoradio läuft und Conor gesanglich auch nicht einfach. Aber groß. |

Was für ein Schritt dieses Album auch war nach dem zwar guten, aber zu wenig fließendem "Fevers & mirrors"... was für ein Sprung. Das ist so von "Meddle" auf "Dark side of the moon". :D |

Die Übergänge zwischen den Songs sind auch so fantastisch. Wie verschiedene Szenerien aufeinander treffen und so fantastisch verbunden werden. Jetzt auf einmal die Bühne in "False advertising". Ein resignierter Conor. Wunderschön. |

Das hat auch alles so einen monströsen, riesigen Klang. Ich meine, diesee Conor Oberst ist ein schmaler, schmächtiger Typ, aber er schert diese ganzen Musiker um sich und kreiert so einen vollen Klang.
Die Übergänge sind echt toll. |

Ist für mich ne 8,5/10 wie "Method acting". Einfach ein mehr als sehr guter Song. Gleich, ab dem nächten Lied legt das Album für mich qualitativ aber erst so richtig los. |

Schöner Streicher am Ende nochmal.
So. Jetzt wohl meiner erste 10/10 des Albums. "Bowl of oranges". Da muss ich auch leider den langen Text posten:
"The rain, it started tapping on the window near my bed
There was a loophole in my dreaming so I got out of it
And to my surprise my eyes were wide and already open
Just my nightstand and my dresser where those nightmares had just been
So I dressed myself and left then, out into the gray streets
But everything seemed different and completely new to me

And I came upon a doctor who appeared in quite poor health

Die Entwicklung dieses Song ist wohl die tollste des Albums. Die drei Ausbrüche, wo einer besser ist als der andere. Unfassbar gut. 10/10 wie schon gesagt. |

Wirklich ein fabelhafter Aufbau. Diese todtraurige Atmosphäre in den Strophen und die befreienden Ausbrüche. Und dann natürlich der Text.
Jetzt könnte man sich natürlich fragen, ob die 6/10 von Plattentests gerechtfertigt ist. :D
