Mir gefällt die Stimme von Trent Reznor nicht, deswegen schreibe ich noch lange nicht so einen allgemein gehaltenen Quatsch in den NIN-Thread.

Die ersten beiden Alben haben gezeigt, dass Coheed großartige Songs schreiben können.

finds auch heftig dass viele hier die band schon "abschreiben", aber gleichzeitig sagen dass die ersten beiden alben sehr gut waren...
die haben aber doch erst 3, also war nur das letzte eher mittelmäßig!
und nach einem schlechten album zu sagen von denen kommt nix gutes mehr find ich sehr mies

Nee, die Kurve geht schon irgendwie bergab! OK, Album-technisch überwiegen (noch) die positiven Teile und das letzte war nun auch keine KATASTROPHE, aber wenn man sich unabhängig davon anschaut, wie routiniert (im negativen Sinn), kalt und irgendwie lust- und feuerlos sie in letzter Zeit ihre Konzerte runterackern, glaub ich kaum, dass im Studio sehr viel mehr rauskommen wird...

da wird um 20 uhr bei uns nix kommen, der countdown is auf amerikanische zeit eingestellt, allerdings sucht sich das programm die uhrzeit des rechners auf den der countdouwn geguckt wird.....war bei der ersten message auch so

Jedenfalls steht momentan nichts neues da. Auch im Cobalt and Calcium - Forum wird spekuliert wieso. So wies aussieht weiss also keiner was los ist. Countdown geht schon richtig, glaube ich.

Als ob es nicht viel einfacher wäre, zwei Zeilen Code für'ne zentrale Datumsabfrage reinzukleben anstatt über CallingCard oder sonstirgend'ne Scheiße das für jeden individuell zu machen.

Hm, irgendwie will mich das nicht wirklich von den Socken hauen.
Die ersten Paar Sekunden sind nett, wenn das Anfangsriff mit den Effekte durcheinander geht... aber dann spätestens im Refrain verfällt man wieder in zu einfache Popmomente, wie auch schon auf der IV, z.B. bei "The Suffering", "Mother May I" oder "Ten Speed". Ja, diese Popmomente gab es auf den beiden ersten Alben auch schon, aber irgendwie waren sie da nicht so... "flach"?
Und nein, ich will auch keinen Überpompprog, ich will wieder den Mittelweg aus beidem, mit dem richtigen Schuss Emocore. Ich schwelge zu sehr im Jahr 2000. :(

Tschengis ich versteh was du meinst. In Keeping und Second Stage haute mich weg. Denke da an Devils In Jersey City, Delirium Trigger oder Everything Evil. Trotzdem, die Platte wird sicher nicht schlecht. Man darf nur kein Meisterwerk mehr erwarten.

wir wollen aber mal nicht ausschliessen dass das hier nur ein kurzer rockiger song ist, wie es sie auf den ersten beiden alben eben auch gab, wie etwa "33" oder "blood red summer", und als solcher gefällt er mir sehr gut

immer diese schwarzmalerei!

diese band hat in den letzten 2 jahren für mich jeglichen reiz verloren. klingt in meinen ohren belanglos. ein warmer aufguss des auf längere distannz doch nicht überzeugenden "from fear.."

“NO WORLD FOR TOMORROW” OUT ON COLUMBIA RECORDS OCTOBER 23, 2007

Columbia Records is proud to announce the release of Coheed and Cambria’s “NO WORLD FOR TOMORROW,” out October 23, 2007. The album is the band’s fourth record, and second for Columbia. The new record follows the successful and critically acclaimed “Good Apollo I’m Burning Star IV, Vol 1: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness,” which peaked at number 7 on the “Billboard Top 200.”

Coheed and Cambria (Claudio Sanchez - vocals, guitar; Travis Stever - guitar; Mic Todd - bass) spent the first half of 2007 working on “NO WORLD FOR TOMORROW” in Los Angeles with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush, Stone Sour) and mixer Randy Staub (Metallica, Nickelback). With original drummer Joshua Eppard out of the band, Coheed recruited Taylor Hawkins from the Foo Fighters to play drums on the record. The making of “NO WORLD FOR TOMORROW” marks the band’s first time they have worked with new Columbia co-Chairman Rick Rubin, who played an A&R role in the making of the record.

“NO WORLD FOR TOMORROW” is a notable progression for the band, who has now added ex-Dillinger Escape Plan drummer Chris Pennie as an official new member. Sanchez says: “Josh leaving the band was a big deal for us, but having Taylor on the record, and now having Chris in the band full time has really allowed us to progress in a way that is really exciting for all of us.” While still very much a Coheed record in sound, “NO WORLD FOR TOMORROW” is a much more personal document for Sanchez as he allowed the emotional events of recent years to profoundly effect the lyrical content for the first time ever. Still, the new record does complete the story of the Amory Wars, and is in fact the final chapter in the saga of Coheed and Cambria Kilgannon, the main characters in a story that wraps all of the band’s concept albums into one.

“I found it impossible to write this record without allowing my personal life to creep into the direction of the story,” Sanchez shares. “I had a clear vision of where I wanted the record to go musically in terms of experimenting with new instrumentation, but when it came time for the lyrics, I opened myself up to let things go to where they naturally were going. It turns out that what happened to me over the last couple of years helped shaped the conclusion of the story better than I could have ever imagined. So it all worked out.”

The band will tour the world heavy and hard for the next year at least.

Bin mir noch nicht ganz darüber im Klaren, wie der Song mir den nun gefällt. Auf den ersten Anlauf würde ich auch sagen, dass "Running Free" für einen tollen C&C-Pop-Singalong wie "Blood Red Summer" einfach an einer ganz großen Melodie mangelt. Die Strophe gefällt mir deutlich besser als der Refrain, find da ist auch ne ganz neue Facette drin, die ich aber noch nicht klar benennen kann ;-) Insgesamt hat der Song noch Potenzial denke ich und für das Album erhoff ich mir gleichzeitig gesteigerte Aufgeräumtheit an den richtigen Stellen und emotionales Chaos an den richtigen Stellen. So! Schade, dass die Platte nicht an Weihnachten erscheint.

Ich werd mir das Album auch auf jeden Fall kaufen, egal wie gut es sein wird. Ich erwarte aber nicht all zu viel. Wenn es auf dem Niveau des letzten Albums ist, darf man ja schon einigermaßen zufrieden sein.
Hoffentlich bringen sie ein paar neue Elemente und wieder experimentellere Songs, denn wenn man sich die Tracklist so anschaut, bleibt zu befürchten, dass es eine Kopie des letzten Albums geben wird. Also die Lieder 1-8 durchschnittlich gute Coca-Popsongs a la "Blood Red Summer" und mit dem Fünfteiler wieder der zwanghafte Versuch, progressiv zu sein. Hoffentlich habe ich unrecht.

Scheiße hast du dir das mal angeguckt? Ein Typ, der aussieht wie Rambo in Teil 3 (fehlen nur noch die Bänder um die Arme) und dann die Farben und überhaupt, richtig richtig schlecht!

Was ich euch noch mitteilen wollte, da einige von euch doch sehr hart mit Co&Ca bei den live Auftritten ins Gericht gehen:

Die Tante von Claud, die gleichzeitig die, ich glaube es zumindest, Managerin war und ihnen schon bei einem früheren drohenden Zerbrechen der Band durch ein ausführliches Gespräch geholfen hatte, ist gestorben und es gab auch bei den anderen Mitgliedern ein paar Todesfälle in der Famillie und dass man dann "gelangweilt" spielt ist für mich kein Wunder.

NWFT First Impressions

So Claudio basically walked into the studio with all those stirring emotions he's mentioned in the interviews and let it wail. This is the hardest rocking, loudest, and most instrumentally intense Coheed record yet and I think even darker than GA1. No, they have not reverted back to Second Stage or In Keeping Secrets, but they have also not made a carbon copy of Apollo 1 with a different story. Though the tracking of the record is quite similar, this album will knock you on your ass with ten times the force of GA1.

Whereas you could hear the band trying to emulate specific influences on GA1 (a.k.a. Once Upon Your Dead Body) on GA2 it's pure CoCa and their influences only help to make things rock n roll. There's roughly four songs which gave me GA1 vibes, but the rest is a whole new beast. Solos are back and sharper and the riffage is on fire, seriously I feel like it's burning a hole in my CD player, this record is hot, flaming fire. Upon hearing the record, the cover artwork works perfectly, because you really feel the weight of that shirtless character heading towards a world being torn to pieces - both his outer layer of revenge, anger, and blood lust as well as his inner emotional conscience get a voice here.

Claudio, as usual, gives a stellar vocal performance - sounding a little higher than GA1 but equally character driven in his vocal stylings. Please do not overthink "The Running Free" it's one of only two songs that I would even begin to think of the word "pop" (there really is very little pop this time). It sounds so much better in context and it's an awesome awesome song in my opinion. Please also stop listening to Mother Superior acoustic right now. Like everything else on this record, it is not a cute acoustic song you can put in your pocket, it is LARGE and a different animal, but vocally note for note like the acoustic version.

The End Complete is just about as insane as you've imagined it, and because the first half of the record is a rockfest, it doesn't feel like a total 180 a la the Willing Wells. The records ends with dignity and of course it's super epic. I won't say anything more here (read below if you want tiny hints). All in all it's a pretty perfect and justified end to the saga - a full progression of a band's sound. Coheed and Cambria were the saviors of rock and roll but now..... they ARE rock and roll.

7:44 The End Complete: The chorus is a pretty new sound for Coheed, but appropriately large-scale. Almost 8 minutes. At 2:47 there is something all you Cobalt and Calciums will be thrilled to hear. It was missing on GA1. The song gets wild in a Willing Well/2113 way. Sickness.

3:35 The Road And the Damned: Also a new sound to it. Extremely heart rending, it should stir every bone in your body. Very moving in an epic way.

7:09 On The Brink: Begins totally soulful almost 2113 esque. Vocally extraordinary. 7 minutes. It progresses epically from here, with an unexpected but crazy good ending. It's not a 20 minute medley of every Coheed song, nor is it just silence, but it is something you'll be happy to hear, and definitely a fitting closer.
