Liegt erfreulicherweise seit heute sogar schon vor. Aufs erste Ohr scheint wieder alles drin zu sein, was Dulli ausmacht. Und mehr... |

19. THE TWILIGHT SINGERS – POWDER BURNS One Little Indian / Rough Trade Das vierte Album von Greg Dullis Twilight Singers. The Twilight Singers*Mark Lanegan** joins the band on the August leg of the Twilight Singers tour* */SINGLE ‘I’M READY’ RELEASE DATE CONFIRMED 10/**/^TH /**/ JULY 2006 ON ONE LITTLE INDIAN RECORDS/*// *Greg Dulli’s The Twilight Singers* have always embraced some of rock’s finest live musicians, and their forthcoming UK tour will prove no exception when the band are joined by Dulli’s friend and collaborator, former *Screaming Trees/Queens Of The Stone Age vocalist Mark Lanegan*. *Lanegan has confirmed he will join The Twilight Singers for the August leg of their tour. * Lanegan, who together with Dulli has recorded a special project under the moniker *‘The Gutter Twins’ (due for release in 2007)*, joined The Twilight Singers on tour in the States, kicking off with an emotional return to New Orleans. It was in the city where Dulli recorded his latest critically acclaimed Twilight Singers’ album ‘Powder Burns’ and which is in the process of rebuilding itself after the Hurricane Katrina disaster, that the Twilight Singers performed at the One Eyed Jack venue on June 7th, to phenomenal write ups. The show was filmed by Rio Hackford, son of film director/producer Taylor Hackford. Lanegan continued with The Twilight Singers for the remainder of their US tour. After rave reviews across the board for their latest album, ‘Powder Burns’, The Twilight Singers release a new single, ‘I’m Ready’, on 10^th July 2006. The single was written by frontman Greg Dulli, features Joseph Arthur on backing vocals, and was co-produced by Dulli and Mike Napolitano (Joseph Arthur/Neville Brothers). The single also features a remix of the track by the Lo Fidelity Allstars, a group who first performed in the US during CMJ's 1998 New Music Marathon with Greg Dulli's previous band the Afghan Whigs. The Lo Fi's have been one of the most successful British bands in America, selling over 400,000 copies of their 'How To Operate With A Blown Mind' album and achieving a #1 on Billboard's Heatseekers' Album chart and 19 weeks on the Billboard 200. Their remix of 'I'm Ready' gives the track a groove- laden bass-pulsating re-write. ‘I’m Ready’ is one of the stand out tracks on The Twilight Singers fourth album, ‘Powder Burns’. The album has been noted as amongst Greg Dulli’s best work in a career that has reached the very highest level of critical acclaim. Justifiably controversial, provocative, literary and utterly compelling as a performer as well as a songwriter, Dulli continues to mark his presence as one of popular music’s most enduring iconoclasts with the new album. Released on 15^th May on One Little Indian in the UK and US, ‘Powder Burns’ is unfalteringly autobiographical, letting loose his spiralling tales of unyielding desires and personal regrets amid a wash of swirling guitars and string-driven orchestration. Whilst the album reflects the Twilights’ interests in merging gutter soul-rock and electronic sounds, the new single ‘I’m Ready’ represents some of the band’s hardest rocking moments yet. Evoking Primal Scream fused with Death From Above 1979, of the track Greg said “/In spite of myself, I love anthemic rock songs. I wanted songs for the stadium in my mind. I take everything into the cave with me.”/ // As well as Joseph Arthur, who features on the single ‘I’m Ready’ and the tracks ‘There’s Been An Accident’, ‘Forty Dollars’ and ‘The Conversation’, other guest appearances on the album include Ani DiFranco on the tracks ‘Bonnie Brae’ and the title track ‘Powder Burns’, and on ‘Candy Cane Crawl’, which also features Scott Bennett and Whigs Bassist John Curley. Mark Lanegan also appears courtesy of a sample on ‘Candy Cane Crawl’. The single is released whilst The Twilight Singers are on the July leg of their tour. The tour dates are the Twilight Singers’ first shows in over two years. *GERMAN DATES * *05.08. Haldern - Haldern Pop Festival 06.08. Hamburg - Knust 14.08. Berlin - Postbahnhof * |
