es gibt bands, die ich sehr gerne mag, dann irgendwann seltsamerweise komplett vergesse und schließlich wiederentdecke und das nicht, ohne wieder völlig hin und weg zu sein. idlewild gehört dazu. die band ist wie nada surf nur etwas härter, aber ebenso leicht unterschätzbar. |

Mist, sie kommen vorher wohl nicht mehr nach Deutschland. Aus ihrem Weblog auf MySpace:
"At the end of this final part of the tour we will have played 40 gigs around the UK and Ireland in support of ‘Post Electric Blues’, which seems more than enough for some time. There isn't the demand for our music that there was in the past, especially not outside of Britain so it seems after this year it's an appropriate time to take a break, a ‘hiatus’ or whatever you want to call it."

Mir gehts gerade genau so. Lange nicht mehr gehört und jetzt beim Neuhören fällt mir wieder auf, wie genial die eigentlich sind. |

In September 2013, rumors of a reunion began as the band posted a photo on their official Facebook page with the caption "What's going on here...?" Woomble, Jones and Newton were tagged in the photo of a recording/rehearsal studio.[14] On 5 November, Roddy Woomble confirmed that the band are in the process of writing a new album, stating: "I have been getting asked about this a lot recently, and it is no secret that Idlewild are making a new album (There are some photographs of a recent writing session in a Hebridean cabin up on the Idlewild facebook page) it is being written and recorded slowly and intermittently, and I have no idea when it’ll be done. Not for a while. I’m just enjoying the process. It is always great to work with Rod and Colin, we have been making up songs together since 1995 – not far off 20 years! Gareth and Allan have not been involved much so far due to both their other touring commitments, but they will be in time, as will others. |

Au ja, ich bin dafür! Krame die Alben immer mal wieder hervor und hab mich gerade Ende letzten Jahres beim Durchhören wieder gefragt, ob es die wohl überhaupt noch mal was machen werden. |

Den direkten Nachfolger "Warnings/Promises" finde ich noch sehr hörenswert.
"Make Another World" ist auch noch ok, danach wurde es etwas langweiliger. Haben aber eigentlich auf allen Alben ein paar gute Songs.

Single ist besser als beim letzten Album. Hoffe generell, dass es wieder bergauf geht. Die letzte Platte ist bisher die einzige, die ich nicht habe. |

Da isses also.
Erster Eindruck: Das abwechslungsreichste Album in der Bandgeschichte. Der Sound wirkt alles in allem frischer als auf den letzten Alben, das klang auf "Post Electric Blues" und "Everything Ever Written" alles ein bisschen angestaubt, finde ich.
Gibt viel zu entdecken, freue mich schon auf weitere Durchläufe. |
