zum ersten "beurteile" ich das neue Album nicht nach diesen 15 Sekunden, ich stelle lediglich fest, dass mir dieser Ausschnitt aus dem Refrain (und ja, der Refrain ist der Teil der normalerweise irgendwas haben sollte, was mir gefällt) nicht so toll gefällt.
Du kannst also gerne deinen Sarkasmus gepaart mit Zynismus auspacken, es qualifiziert dich leider zu überhaupt nicht mehr als mich, irgendwas zu bewerten!
Und es gibt hier zuhauf Leute, die bräuchten überhaupt keinen Ausschnitt aus dem Lied, um das ganze Album scheisse zu finden.
Also "Kopf aus dem Arsch" holen und ein wenig nachdenken...

sorry, aber nach 15 sekunden kann man keinen song objektiv beurteilen. man bekommt maximal eine ahnung. auch bei so einer lahmen gurkentruppe wie PJ.

Ich bewerte überhaupt nichts. Es gibt nichts zu bewerten.

Ich finde es einfach bescheuert einem 15 Sekunden Schnipsel irgendeine größere Bedeutung beizumessen . Hab keine Ahnung warum du dich nach ein bischen Ironie so angepisst fühlst.
Wie dem auch sei, schauen wir einfach mal ob es Pearl Jam nach 7 sehr guten Alben schaffen ein ebenfalls gutes 8. dranzuhängen. In einigen Wochen wissen wir mehr, dann können wir (vielleicht?) richtig diskutieren.

MAY 2, 2006





SEATTLE, WA - Pearl Jam announced today that they will release their highly anticipated, self-titled, eighth studio album May 2, 2006 on J Records.



The first single off the album, "World Wide Suicide" is scheduled to be made available to radio March 8, with the official impact date scheduled for March 14. “World Wide Suicide” will also be made available as a free unrestricted download on www.pearljam.com for two days beginning 6:00am EST on March 8. The single will then be available for purchase digitally as of March14.



Pearl Jam's new album marks the band's first studio release in nearly four years and is the first studio album to be released through their new label, J Records.



“It’s a very special opportunity for us to work with a band that possesses such an historic legacy,” comments J Records founder and BMG U.S. Label Group Chairman Clive Davis.



The album was produced and mixed by Adam Kasper and Pearl Jam at Studio X in Seattle, Washington. Kasper co-produced Pearl Jam’s 2002 release, Riot Act.



Tracklisting for Pearl Jam's new release is forthcoming. Details on Pearl Jam's 2006 World Tour in support of their new album will be announced later this month.



Since their inception in 1991, Pearl Jam has sold nearly 60 million albums worldwide, including millions of live bootlegs. The band has released 7 studio records, 2 live records, one double-disc b-sides record, and one double-disc greatest hits record.




In Deutschland müßte somit die Platte wegen "Freitag ist Musiktag" tatsächlich am 28.04. schon erscheinen.

..und eine kurzer eindruck von 6 der songs:

I was one lucky bastard today. I was invited to go to a Sony/BMG records meeting in which 6 of the new PJ songs were played for staff. I'm not excactly sure how to describe what I heard, and I didn't take notes but I will try to describe as much as possible.

1st off, crapshoot IS comatose. As the songs were played each song title was mentioned for the song was played. The last song I heard was Comatose, when it came on I instantly recognized it. Straight up 100%, and it was fucking raw as shit, almost like they recorded it in one take. Even had a little banter at the end of one of the guys saying something like "that was pretty good" or something like that. The one main thing I remember about it was how huge that openning riff sounded.

These are the rest of the songs they played (i think in this order, I could be wrong about the first two names)...

Inside Job
Life Wasted
Worldwide Suicide
Unemployable
Parachutes
Comatose

I came in the room and the first song was already started, and I remember thinking that if this was pearl jam, they are finally back. Im pretty sure it was inside job, but dont quote me.

Dont remember much of the 1st and 2nd tracks other than they just sounded flat out great. Just really upbeat and hard hitting. And ed sounded really energetic, FINALLY.

Ok, Worldwide Suicide. Let me jsut say that they picked the worst fucking 15 seconds of the song to preview on the radio. This song blew my socks off. You will all realize wednesday, this song is fucking sick.

Unemployable was also great, I think it may have been a tad bit slower than the other tracks, but i dont remember for sure. I only heard these songs once after all.

Parachutes, wow. This was a more acoustic song, almost a ballad. It reminded me a bit of Light Years as far as the tempo goes. And, you may be interested to know that this was the only song that I heard any organ/Boom. There was a little solo a ways in, but I didnt notice any other organ.


Overall, I'm really happy to say that they FINALLY have captured the way they sound live, in the studio. And, Ed sounding energetic as fuck was really exciting. I see why Mike early on was saying that this sounded more like VS. This album is going to be big, I dont know about Green Day big, but its going to sell better than the previous two records did, hands down.

As one of the reps said in the meeting "its good to know we have a pearl jam record we can actually get behind". Also, I guess the radio station feedback was really great, since I guess they have the track and have heard it, but cant play it. They even mentioned the Indy leak last week.

One sad note, I heard not a single Mike solo anywhere. Hopefully this will be fixed once we hear the rest of the album.

Gefällt mir schon mal ganz gut. Reicht zwar nicht an Lieder wie Do The Evolution oder Last Exit ran, aber mal abwarten, was das restliche Album so bringt. Klingt auf jeden Fall lebendiger als Riot Act.

word wide suicide gefällt mir schon mal sehr gut. von der melodie her, bekommt man frühlingsgefühle...sonne, eine nicht schneebedeckte wiese, picknick mit freunden und das lied hören... *träum*
und die tour..da freut sich mein herz auch schon..salzburg ist ja schon lang her...

Fast vier Jahre sind verstrichen, seit die letzte verbliebene große Seattle-

band ihr letztes Studioalbum veröffentlichte. "Riot Act", das im Novem-

ber 2002 erschienen war und Platz dreizehn in den deutschen Charts

erreicht hatte, war zugleich der finale Longplayer mit neuen Kompositi-

onen, der in Zusammenarbeit mit dem jahrelangen Labelpartner Epic/

Sony Music erschien. Den Veröffentlichungen der B-Seiten-Compilation

"Lost Dogs" (2003) und dem ersten Pearl-Jam-Best-Of-Album "Rear-

viewmirror (1991-2003)" im Jahre 2004 folgte schließlich der Labelwech-

sel zu "J Records", der Erfolgsfirma von Musikbusiness-Legende Clive

Davis. Erstes Ergebnis der Zusammenarbeit zwischen den Grungerock-

Pionieren und dem Springsteen-Entdecker sind dreizehn neue Stücke,

die am 28. April als achtes Studioalbum der Band unter dem schlichten

Titel "Pearl Jam" in den Handel kommt. Mit Produzent Adam Kasper,

der bereits als Co-Produzent am letzten Album "Riot Act" mitgewirkt

hatte, setzten Eddie Vedder (Gesang, Gitarre), Jeff Ament (Bass), Stone

Gossard (Gitarre), Mike McCready (Gitarre), Matt Cameron (Schlag-

zeug) und Boom Gaspar (Keyboards) auf das bewährte Studioteam der

letzten Veröffentlichungen. Zusammen mit der Band mischte Kaspar,

der in seiner Karriere bereits mit und für die Foo Fighters, Nirvana,

Soundgarden, Weezer und Queens Of The Stone Age gearbeitet hatte, d

as gute Dutzend Songs auch ab. Die Aufnahmen zu "Pearl Jam" fanden

im "Studio X" in Seattle statt. Erste Single-Auskopplung des Albums ist

der Song "World Wide Suicide", der hierzulande am 13. März als Down-

load-Single erscheinen wird. Am 9. Mai startet die Band auf ihre nächste

Welt-Tournee, von der allerdings bislang lediglich die Termine in Kanada

und den USA fest stehen (Support: My Morning Jacket). Details über

Konzerte in Deutschland liegen noch nicht vor.

Im Dezember 2004 gab die Band folgendes bekannt (aus Rumor Pit #59):

Q: Will Boom Gaspar be playing on the next studio album? Cause he played great in Riot Act.
A: Not sure yet, but we love him.

Q: Is Boom officially part of the band?
A: No.

Ich habe aber kürzlich irgendwo gelesen, dass er bei mindestens einem Song vom neuem Album wieder zu hören sein soll.

LIFE WASTED-it's a great opener. kinda soundgardeny. hard and melodic. first stanza has..”youre always saying youre weak to be strong”...very catchy. if they were an indie band they would have definitely but clever hand claps between the lines. chorus repeats.."life wasted, never going back there again". right before the solo ed does a cute little laugh. its subtle but its definitely there. great mike solo at the end. classic PJ.

WWS- you know it. you love it. perfect first single. its very PJ and yet still totally accessable. not a bad thing, people!

COMATOSE- formerly known as crapshoot. personally i think its the only song on the album that can even be remotely connected to the whole "vs comparison". its got that rough punky edge that lots of tracks on Vs have. he's changed some of the lyrics from their performance of it on easy street, otherwise you know what you're in for. i love it.

SEVERED HAND- starts with a u2/the edge-y riff with huge drums but then breaks into superfunk. totally a stone track. i can see the duckwalk and everything. 2nd stanza has that "you'll see dragons after three or four" that we saw in last year's newsletter. very catchy refrain- "its okay do you want some more..i said yeah..youll see dragons after 3 or 4..i said yeah"

MARKER IN THE SAND- i think this could be a yield track with a choppy stanzas broken up with a slower, more melodic chorus. "i feel a sickness..a sickness coming over me". i wouldn;t be shocked if matt wrote it..time will tell.
one more thing- awesome opportunity for call and response "yeah"s at the end..ala tag at the end of live LBC. hooray for audience participation.

PARACHUTES- beatles. lennon. can't say any more than that really other than its nearly impossible to understand what ed is saying. i want liner notes!!!

UNEMPLOYABLE- great bass line and cymbal work, hooks you in right away. really layered vocals. i fucking love it. seems to be a story about a guy who loves jesus but is somewhat incompetant..hmm.
chorus repeats..“ive seen the light. im scared alive” with "oh oh oh"s..chrous is very springsteen. very good.

BIG WAVE- awesome fun energy, with big whoa whoa yeah yeah refrains. i think its filler, becks519 loves it. silly “got me a big wave” chorus. makes for funny stone dance. the solo is wow though. so maybe its not filler after all. i just probably need a few more listens.

GONE- done up version of what we heard in AC (fun night!). great arrangement. thewhole band doesn't take away from the intimacy of the song. can't say how it compartes to the demo beceause i haven't heard it yet. i thought it was going to be a downer of a song but its actually quite uplifting. could easily be on Yield.

WASTED REPRISE-interestingly placed after gone- it fits. only ed and organ. goes through the life wasted chorus twice. “life wasted, never going back again.."

ARMY RESERVE- there are no words to describe this song. **EVERYTHING THAT IS GOOD ABOUT MUSIC IS IN THIS SONG.** obviously, my favorite by far. neil finn jangly guitar melody. brooding vocals. lyrics seem to be about a woman who is burying her fallen soldier. it's hearbreaking and gorgeous and i can't get enough.
this is the chorus:
"i'm not blind..i can see it coming..looks like lightening..in my child's eyes..i'm not frightened..i can feel it coming.."
as if that weren;t enough, the chorus has these huge vocal layered melodies...ed is at his best. it is PERFECTION. i am dying to know who wrote this one. just wow.

COME BACK- well, the worst song comes right after the best. it's this white guy quasi-blues number. the lyrics are trite. the song kinda meanders and doesn't go anywhere. i suppose it could grow on me over time but i doubt it.

INSIDE JOB- this song is the hardest to explain. it has a dramatic long intro..lyrics don't start for a good 1 1/2 minutes into the song. it's a decent closer...with piano. not in love with it. at all.

ist doch ein cooler song. und interessanterweise die (in den USA) am höhesten platzierte pearl jam single aller zeiten (in den billboard-radiocharts).

macht auf jeden fall lust auf mehr, und die anderen drei neuen songs sind auch sehr, sehr stark.

es gefällt mir nicht mal so schlecht - ist mal was anderes - aber was zum teufel wollen sie damit ausdrücken? pj hatten ja immer ein gewisses konzept hinter hren albumcovers
