Da es vielleicht noch nicht jeder gesehen hat, hier mal noch die recht alte (und leider immer noch aktuellste zum Stand der Band) Meldung von der offiziellen Homepage:

A MESSAGE FROM JASON

Hey everyone, Jase here.

It's a cold, wet November day and I'm reading the message board. It's so good to hear the response about the tour from you all. There is a forum topic about your favorite A songs and I read them all and it brought a tear to my eye. I never realized that our words could mean so much to people. You should hear the shit I get from the others in the band about our lyrics! Anyway, I thought it was cool and sweet and all and I also thought that I should let you all know what is going on with the band.

Here goes... I haven't got a clue!

Here's what I do know, It's a strange one and I don't want to get into all that "patronizing the kids bullshit" so I will be honest with you.

It's been a tough year for us. Super tough. Not like we've had our entire city flooded or been in a war zone type of "tough". But tough enough. You all should know by now the struggle we had getting our latest album "Teen Dance Ordinance" released in the first place. This time last year was as grim as it gets. We'd run out of money and we were trying to get ownership of our record back from the label. We had band meeting after band meeting and we eventually realized that we'd have to get jobs. We all did our thing and Adam and I built a studio and set up a songwriting/production company with an eye to the future.

We were angry and bitter because sitting on someone's desk was our greatest achievement. The months had gone by and the musical climate had changed under our feet. Rock turned to indie and before we knew it we were in the grip of Britpop MK 2. Now, there are not many bands around right now that I really hate, but the current musical climate was never gonna help us out at getting radio play. If I quote the feedback we got: "they have their demographic to pander to, regardless of how good the song is". If our last single "Better Off With Him" had come out when "Starbucks" did, well, you would have seen us looking lame and out of place on TOTP again!

Anyhow, a guy called Korda Marshall took over at our record label, Warner, and he fought the bigwigs in New York to get our album released. He's a music man, our Korda, and every band I know respects him. Not too many Kordas around these days. He stuck his neck out and got the album released. Everyone involved was excited and I'd like to thank him for it. They were, we were and you lot were. Unfortunately, radio stations weren't and most showed little interest. Then publications like Kerrang and N.M.E. quickly followed the trend. Ten years in the music business tells me that most back a winner and no-one gives a shit about your music, rather your success. I've learned this and it makes our struggle easier to stomach.

But not that easy.

We did a little UK tour which was okay but I was itching to do the real thing. I like doing big shows and I was itching to get out with some lights and PA and all that. I can't begin to tell you how ambitious we are as a band, we have very high expectations and hopes. The record came out and you all seemed to love it which was awesome. I'm so proud of it too. With just a little bit of press coverage, no radio play and a 3 year gap it was obvious that TDO was going to become a fanbase record. That's you guys. Thanks for buying it. And I hope you'll play it forever. I know I will. "Second Coming" is my favorite 'A' moment to this day.

Over the past year we played the Download Festival plus some great shows and tours away from these shores but the buzz was fading. We loved the time on stage but the time off of it was getting us down. We had a tour booked for this past October but I was dreading it really. I thought that there would be like 50-100 people turning up! We ended up playing Brixton Academy at the end of our last big tour for Hi-Fi Serious. I thought that this album would send us back there and beyond but you don't need a rocket scientist to work out that it was unlikely this time round. I thought that this tour was gonna break me. I was dreading it, and to be honest, I was really negative about it for the first time in my life. I'm a singer and a front man, and I need to be brimming with confidence to perform well. I was so down and drained and over it. The fellas in the band and management encouraged me to do it so I said I would. We talked about calling it the final tour to help ticket sales but we thought that would be cheap move and just kept a low profile. The night before the first show Yin told me that even if there was only 50 people there, at least they loved the band. Every single person would be there because they wanted to be and not because of hype and tv shows etc. I was like yeah, yeah, I know but...

Well I've got to tell you. I WAS VERY WRONG! That last tour was the most enjoyable tour I've ever done. I loved it. Every second of every gig was amazing. Okay not every night was a sell out but the crowds were great and it was like seeing hundreds of friends every night. I loved singing every word. By the end of "Nothing" at the University Of East Anglia I'd got my confidence back. There was no press there, no single to promote, no pressure, just five great friends doing what they do best. After the first night in Norwich I was on the phone to my wife telling her that there's no way this could be the last time we played together. It was that good and I cannot thank you all enough for coming along and making it so special. We had two great bands out with us and I loved watching Capdown getting you all going nuts and hearing My Awesome Compilation sing my favorite song of the moment. We all got on great and we had a great time. I'd look down at my set list every night and couldn't wait to sing the next song. Maybe it's because deep down I knew that there might not be too may opportunities to sing 'em again or maybe it's the fact that we've written some of the best rock songs around in the last ten years. What ever it was I didn't want to come off stage every night. Despite what my throat was telling me.

As we neared the London show though, reality was sinking in. We've all got families, houses and lives and we're all in our early to mid-thirties with real life banging on the door. We're not gonna have another record out on Warner so that means no more touring like we're used to. We had knots in our stomachs as we sat around the dressing room the day before the London show. We knew that right there, right now, A as an album and touring band was not gonna pay the bills. The obvious thing to do would be to just call it a day and move on. Get on with our lives. The reality is that when you get to our stage in your major label recording career you have to be a millionaire to keep your contract. You only have to look at my hair cut to realize that we're far from it. You know what though, for all the shit you have to put up with from a major label, I wouldn't change a thing. When it all kicks in and you're out in Cape Town shooting a video that's all over the TV while you're a priority at the label and all that, well, it doesn't get any better for me. Of course you have to sell a lot of records and of course by the time you get to you fourth, you really have to sell a lot of records! And we all know that that ain't gonna happen right now. They're not a charity, they're a major record company and I knew that nearly ten years ago when I signed for them.

We can't go on like this BUT we can't split up either.

We're gonna take a break for a while.
Get other parts of our lives sorted. It's a toughey when you've been in a band for 15 years of your life because you're basically unemployable! So what are we gonna do?

I'm writing with Dan and producing what I think is gonna be one of the greatest solo albums of next year for an artist who is so refreshing and so talented that I can't wait to for you all to hear him. He was in a band that you might have liked ('cause they wrote great pop songs) or may not have liked (either because they were too big, and us British hate anything popular, or their music just didn't do for you) but when you hear Matt's record I promise you'll soon forget all of that. It's great. He's great and you're all gonna love it. Dan is in The Lucky Nine with our friends and they just played with us out in Japan and the kids loved em. It's his baby, he produced and arranged it and did the all the artwork and stuff. I wish them all the best and I hope they have it large. Talking of other bands, your heads are gonna fall of when you hear the new Hundred Reasons stuff, so keep some glue handy. Mark is a guitar god and is gonna be busy shredding his way throughout the world for a while. I like to think that we're partly responsible for the rebirth of the solo thanks to "The Distance" and Mark's talents. Talking of "The Distance", anyone who's seen that video will know that Giles knows a thing or two about video making and I know he's really keen to explore all of that. So look out for Farmer's work. Yin is managing the studio and a bunch of producer/writers right now but he's not gonna buy a suit just yet...

So that's for now.

As for the future, well, we ain't doing a Blink 182 just yet. We're gonna get together next year and write some more tunes. The same way as we approached the tour. With no pressure, no pre-conceptions and lots of beer. I'm looking forward to it. Who knows how we'll sound, where we'll head - but it will be a joy and a welcome escape from all the other things that we'll all be doing. We'll keep you all informed so its very important that we have your up to the minute email address.

I guess that every band needs to know when to call it a day just like any footballer. So yeah, were gonna do a Shearer. We still love being in our favourite band, we just hate dealing with all the shit that surrounds it. We love each other and we love writing songs, so let's see what happens and let's leave it at that. For now.

I just want to thank you all for all of your love and support and for singing the words so loud at our shows. It's been the best ten years and we've all shared so much rock together. I'd also like to thank all of our patient and understanding families for their endless support and love, Tank and Martin at our management and all of our crew past and present. Big ups to everyone down at Warner and Helter Skelter for all their faith and hard work. Props to Neato for being drunk and keeping you all informed and to everyone else who's supported us in the last ten years.

Maybe we are turning into Rush after all? Who knows.

Big love and much rock

x Jason Perry.

„Sorry to let you all know that due to unforeseen circumstances we are having to postpone our shows in Germany  next month to later on in the year! ⠀

We know it’s super annoying and we’ve been trying our best to make it work but it’s just not possible to bring you the show that you deserve. Please except our deepest apologies and believe us when we say that it really will be worth the wait. We want to bring you the best “A” shows possible and the rescheduled dates will be exactly just that! ⠀

If you’ve already got tickets for one of the shows these will still be valid at the rescheduled dates or you can receive a refund from the ticket vendor.

Details of the new dates will be announced soon. ⠀

Once again we are so sorry that we won’t get to see you next month but we WILL see you later on this year we promise, and it will be very, very ACE!! All will be revealed soon. ⠀
