Die britische Indie-Pop Band "Spearmint" aus London, kündigt für den 24.07. das 11. Studioalbum "Chase Me" an. Es folgt auf "The Candle Is For You" von 2023.
Erst "Trashcan Sinatras" und nun "Spearmint".

Die Londoner Band Spearmint lässt ihrem gefeierten 2023er-Album „This Candle Is For You“ am Freitag, dem 24. Juli 2026, das ambitionierte neue Konzeptalbum „Chase Me“ folgen.
Die neue Single „1986“ beschwört eine Zeit herauf, in der die Welt noch nicht durch Technologie vernetzt war – und doch eine starke Verbindung rund um den Globus bestand: die Musik. Konkret sind es im Song Menschen in Newcastle und Madrid, die zu derselben Musik tanzen.
Seit ihrem Debüt „A Week Away“ im Jahr 1999 veröffentlicht Spearmint großartige Alben (darunter „Sweeping The Nation“, „A Trip Into Space“ und „We’re Going Out“). Die Besetzung ist unverändert geblieben: Shirley Lee (Gesang, Gitarre), Simon Calnan (Gesang, Keyboards), James Parsons (Gitarre) und Ronan Larvor (Schlagzeug). Dies ist ihr elftes reguläres Studioalbum und die 65. Veröffentlichung auf ihrem eigenen Label hitBACK.
In erneuter Zusammenarbeit mit dem Produzenten Rhodri Marsden (Scritti Politti, Cardiacs) erzählt das Album „Chase Me“ eine Geschichte von Erfolg, Desillusionierung, Entfremdung, Gefahr und Wiederauferstehung. Es ist Thriller, Horror und Allegorie zugleich: Die Handlung wird von drei Verfolgungsjagden durch eine nächtliche Stadt geprägt, von zwei außerkörperlichen Erfahrungen eingerahmt und mündet in eine Reihe aufbauender Liebeslieder. Songwriter Shirley erklärt: „Die Geschichte würde meiner Meinung nach einen guten Film abgeben … aber da wir nicht wissen, wie man so etwas macht, haben wir eben das hier daraus gemacht.“

In einem alternativen und gerechten Universum wäre Spearmint riesig. Musikalisch sind ihre Songs voller eingängiger Melodien und radiotauglich, während die Texte tief empfunden, emotional und verletzlich sind und ungewöhnliche Perspektiven bieten. Auch wenn man „Chase Me“ am besten am Stück hört, um den erzählerischen Bogen voll auszukosten, enthält das Album viele Songs, die sich hervorragend als Singles eignen würden. Der Anspruch des Albums unterstreicht, wie wertvoll es ist, dass Spearmint unbeirrt und zufrieden ihre eigene Vision verfolgen können. Es ist immer wieder ein Vergnügen, in ihre Welt einzutauchen.
