Hehe. Ja, das waren genau meine zwei Gedanken. Nine Inch Nails und schon das zweite Mal Love im Titel? Wo sind wir, bei den Beatles?
Bin gespannt auf den ersten Song. "Bloodmoon: I" hat mich bis heute nicht so richtig bekommen, aber sonst ist das eine der konsistentesten Bands überhaupt, die eigentlich nur Knalleralben veröffentlicht hat. |

Sie haben den Chaos-Anteil runter- und den Mosh-Anteil raufgeschraubt. Klingt deutlich aufgeräumter als viele frühere Tracks. Steht ihnen aber gut, finde ich.

LOVE IS NOT ENOUGH

For more than three decades, Converge have delivered musical and emotional catharsis, putting purpose before perception and intent before interpretation. Whether it’s their 2001 landmark recording Jane Doe or their 2021 Bloodmoon: I collaboration, Converge have created some of the most compelling music, lyrics, and visual art of the 21st century. During that time, fewer bands have had a greater impact on the underground imagination.
It seems unlikely that anyone who has been making music for this long would create one of their best works for their eleventh album, in their 35th year as a band. And yet: Love Is Not Enough - incoming February 13th, 2026 - might be the apotheosis of Converge’s decades-long journey through the punk, hardcore and metal microcosm. What vocalist/lyricist Jacob Bannon, guitarist/producer Kurt Ballou, bassist/vocalist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller have created is a strident artistic statement on the turmoil of living that hones their collective strengths to a razor’s edge. Today, Converge shares the album's title track/music video "Love Is Not Enough". The song is intensely emotional, and lyrically it "...explores what it means to remain empathetic and compassionate in the modern world. A reckoning with who we are today and hope to be in the future - if we can fend off the scavengers," comments Bannon.

Love Is Not Enough features no special guests, no studio trickery, no relentless massaging of human imperfection in trying to manufacture the perfect take. “I think that realism is missing from a lot of modern music of any genre, but especially our genre,” Bannon says. "Things either go super raw and almost chaotic to the point where it's distracting, or bands take the life out of what they’re doing by editing every aspect. Sometimes the perfect take is the one that has some wildness to it. It's not perfectly executed. There’s a lot of powerful moments on this record and a lot of angry moments. The realism amplifies that.”
Unlike so many albums that adhere to a time-honoured sequencing format, cherry-picking favoured tracks for the all-important first, second, and final spots, Love Is Not Enough is all about momentum. “It does a thing that no other Converge record does - it keeps ramping up”, Bannon says. “And that’s definitely by design. Internally, we passed around dozens of ideas for sequencing because everyone interprets music differently, and there’s no right way of doing it. When we do that, we always joke that we all have to be equally unhappy. But this is the one that works.”
Love Is Not Enough was recorded and mixed by Kurt Ballou at God City in Salem, Massachusetts, with engineering assistance from Zach Weeks. Jacob Bannon did the artwork and design, creating an image for each song and a commanding cover depicting a celestial witness to a world aflame. “We still identify this band as the outlet that’s essential to our lives,” Bannon says. “We give everything we have to it. Being past your average middle age, we’re starting to see deeper than before into a variety of places. And I don’t think that’s specific to us. I think that’s something that’s utterly relatable.”
Converge will perform at Saddest Day fest on December 13th in Boston, MA with Touché Amoré, Coalesce, The Hope Conspiracy, Full of Hell, Soul Glo and more.
They will also perform at the following UK and EU festivals, with more to follow:

Ich find's so gut, wie Koller in den ersten Strophenhälften nicht durchgaloppiert, sondern immer wieder kleine Fills einbaut. Und am Ende haben sie glaub ich das "Love is not enough" um zwei Viertel nach hinten versetzt. Auch cool. :D |

Bloodmoon finde ich schon auch ziemlich gut. Man darf zwar kein klassisches Converge-Album erwarten. Dafür dass da aber so viele verschiedene Größen mitmischen, ist dennoch etwas Cooles und Eigenständiges dabei rausgekommen. Ich finde, bei so Supergroup-Projekten kommt es auch mal vor, dass sich die jeweiligen kreativen Kräfte irgendwie aufheben und das Ergebnis dann sehr generisch wird. Das ist hier definitiv nicht der Fall. |

Titeltrack ist grossartig und We Were Never The Same ist auch sehr gut. Ebenfalls ein sehr straighter Track mit geringem Chaos-Anteil. Nate Newton ist einfach ein fantastischer Shouter. Jacob Bannon klingt etwas zu gedämpft - warum hält er ständig die Hände vors Mikrofon? Und bei Dark Horse klingt er zu Beginn richtig mies - versucht er da clean zu singen? Generell finde ich Bannon live den Schwachpunkt der Band. Auf den Aufnahmen ist er super - live oft zu brabbelig. Er macht das allerdings mit seiner Präsenz wett.
Alles in allem: Vorfreude aufs neue Album ist sehr gross. Hoffe es gibt auch ne Tour dazu. |

Ja, zur Performance hatte ich genau die selben Gedanken: Die Backing Vocals sind fantastisch, Bannon klingt insgesamt ziemlich verwaschen und die Strophen auf „Dark Horse“ klingen ziemlich daneben. Ansonsten aber eine ordentliche Performance mit druckvollem Sound. |

Deppensänger! Das Mikro mit den Händen umschließen, dadurch klingen, als trägt man eine FFP2-Maske und somit die gesamte (ansonsten tolle) Aufnahme unhörbar machen...
Schade, dass die Audiotree-Leute da nicht eingegriffen haben. |

So ein Quatsch „Deppensänger“, geile Peformance - geile Track Auswahl. Jakob klingt hervorragend quasi genauso wie auf Platte. Strophen von Dark Horse n bisschen anders aber auch voll okay. Neuer Song im Set auch super cool - noch besser als der erste. Nach wie vor können alle Retorten Metalcore Bands, Polaris, Bury Tomorrow und wie sie nicht alle heißen gegen Converge einpacken. |

Die Audiotree-Session ist ja nun auch auf allen Kanälen zu streamen. Und wenn man Jacob nicht sieht, klingt er nochmals ne Spur schlechter. Fällt einfach sehr ab im Vergleich zu den Backing Vocals. Und ich werde einmal mehr den Eindruck nicht los, dass er sich live überhaupt nicht an die Texte hält sondern einfach irgendwas brabbelt. |

Finde den Mix beim Streaming jetzt ehrlich gesagt etwas besser. Ich hab den Verdacht, dass seine Vocals so herausstechen, weil der Rest etwas zu sauber und geordnet abgemischt ist. Denn er macht ja nichts anders als sonst. |

Ich befürchte etwas, dass der Tiefgang fehlen wird. Und die beiden Singles halten sich mMn zu sehr in der Converge-Bequemlichkeitszone auf. In zwei Wochen wissen wir mehr. |

Das ganze Album recht gradlinig und die zweite albumhälfte ist richtig gut.
Die Produktion gefällt mir richtig gut (das best-klingendste Album seit all we love…)
Gefällt mir viel besser als bloodmoon und mindestens so gut die the dusk in us |

Bin gespannt! Wobei ich Bloodmoon auch ziemlich gut finde. Als es rauskam, war ich etwas ernüchtert, weil ich Bock auf ein neues Converge-Album hatte, was es aber ja nicht wirklich ist. Mit angepassten Erwartungen ging's dann. ;) (Coil und Crimson Stone allein...) |

Ich hab im Rahmen dessen jetzt Bloodmoon I noch mal gehört. Einstieg: "Oh, wow, warum fand ich das damals nur so mittel".
Nach 3 Songs: "Ach, deswegen."
Crimson Stone: jup, geil, aber in Gänze eher ne 7. Da fehlt mir der rote Faden. |
