Belgium's finest indie pop export, The Haunted Youth have returned with their evocative new single ‘Into You’.
Lovelorn yet strangely upbeat, ‘Into You’ mixes the atmospherics of goth adjacent bands like The Cure and Depeche Mode with the guitar driven power pop of acts like The Radio Dept. and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart.
“The song is about not being able to be with your sweetheart, and at the same time not being able to be without them” singer Joachim explains. “It’s about finding a balance between yourself as an individual and your relationship.”
The primary vehicle of songwriter and misfit rock star, Joachim Liebens, The Haunted Youth have been a critically acclaimed part of Belgian’s alternative music scene since first emerging in 2021. They released a lauded debut album, ‘Dawn of the Freak’ in 2022.
The Haunted Youth headlined shows all across Europe and graced the stages of many big name festivals including Iceland Airwaves, Lowlands, Best Kept Secret, Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop, Eurockéennes and Montreux Jazz. With more new music to come The Haunted Youth look set to go from strength-to-strength.

Die Elemente sind schön simpel gehalten und es entsteht auch eine wohlige Melancholie, aber im Ganzen ist es mir dann zu glatt und langweilig |

‘In My Head’ is the highly anticipated new single by The Haunted Youth, the band of Belgian multi-instrumentalist Joachim Liebens, and a monumental indie anthem about being confronted with one’s own worst enemies in love and relationship.
“When love brings out the worst in you, the end of the honeymoon phase, where you are confronted by your own worst enemies: yourself and your demons, which are awakened by truly feeling vulnerable with someone.” Joachim Liebens says.
The band has just returned from a memorable German tour with Canadian indie phenomenon Ekkstacy. In 2023 and 2024, The Haunted Youth headlined shows all across Europe and graced the stages of major festivals including Iceland Airwaves, Lowlands, Best Kept Secret, Eurockéennes, Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop and Montreux Jazz.
Liebens is currently working on a follow-up to the massively popular and critically acclaimed debut album Dawn of the Freak. More updates: soon!

Belgische Indie-Sensation The Haunted Youth ist zurück mit neuer Single "Emo Song" und kündigt zweites Album Boys Cry Too für Februar 2026 an
The Haunted Youth, das Projekt des Musikers Joachim Liebens, zählt zu den größten belgischen Indie-Rock-Entdeckungen der letzten Jahre. Nach dem Indie-Hit "Teen Rebel" (2021) und der Debüt-LP Dawn of the Freak (2022) folgte monatelanges Touren durch ganz Europa, bevor es wieder ins Studio ging. 2025 markiert den Beginn eines neuen Kapitels in der eindrucksvollen Bandgeschichte: mit der am 09.05.2025 via Mayway Records erscheinenden Dream-Pop-Single "Emo Song" kündigen The Haunted Youth ihr zweites Album Boys Cry Too für Februar 2026 an. 2026 bringen The Haunted Youth dieses neue Kapitel außerdem live auf die Bühne – mit einer großen Europa-Tour, die sie u. a. nach London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Hamburg, Köln, Madrid und Brüssel führen wird.
"Emo Song" fängt das Gefühl ein, alles aufs Spiel zu setzen, in der Hoffnung, sich selbst endlich zu finden. Es ist ein Track über Selbstzweifel, emotionale Befreiung und die Bereitschaft, sich radikal mit den eigenen Gefühlen auseinanderzusetzen. Das kommende Album Boys Cry Too stellt dabei einen mutigen Schritt nach vorne dar – sowohl klanglich als auch erzählerisch – und lotet die emotionalen und musikalischen Grenzen der Band weiter aus.

Auch auf "Emo Song" bleibt die Band diesem atmosphärischen Sound treu – zwischen Shoegaze, Dream-Pop und 80s-Nostalgie, getragen von glitzernden Synths, flirrenden Gitarren und emotional aufgeladenen Melodien.
Mit der Debütsingle "Teen Rebel" wurde The Haunted Youth in Belgien und darüber hinaus schnell zu einem Dream-Pop-Phänomen. Der verträumte Sound und Joachim Liebens‘ melancholischer Charme eroberten die Indie-Herzen in ganz Europa, Großbritannien und den USA wie im Flug. Frontmann Liebens verbindet schwebende Gitarren, nostalgische Synths und zutiefst persönliche Texte zu Songs, die bei aller thematischen Dunkelheit Trost und Verbundenheit schenken.

Bei aller Liebe, ich finde die Band super, aber zu schreiben The Haunted Youth eroberten ganz Europa, Grossbritannien und die USA wie im Flug, ist einfach grössenwahnsinniger Quatsch. Klar, in Belgien Euphorie, hab sie dia am Pukkelpop gesehen, aber ich hab sie auch an Konzerten in anderen Ländern gesehen mit 50-100 Zuschauern… |

Promotion eben. Natürlich völlig überzogen, aber tolle Band. Mir gefallen die Instrumental-parts deutlich besser als der manchmal etwas weinerliche Gesang. Aber insgesamt sehr gut ! |
