"This Lullaby", toller Opener mit Lanegans Grabesstimme. Gibt schon ein wenig diese düstere, morbide Märchenstimmung des Albums vor. Mag ich sehr, gelungenes Intro. |

Das ist aber schon interessant, wie unterschiedlich die beiden Hälften sind, wobei ich atmosphärisch nicht soo den Bruch höre. Die erste hat halt die Hits, die zweite die langen, düsteren Sachen. Kann mich mit beidem anfreunden.
"Everybody knows that..", war das nicht ein Seitenhieb gegen den davor rausgeschmissenen Oliveri? Mag ich jedenfalls gerne, der düstere, veträumte Märchenwaldeinstieg und dann groovt der so toll vor sich hin. Am Ende fehlt über die Spielzeit vielleicht etwas die Variation. |

Ich mag ja die Produktion vom Album. "Songs for the deaf" war ja richtig knallig, sehr wuchtig, diese hier fast schon Understatement. Sehr trocken und nüchtern. |

Paar allgemeinen Gedanken zum Album: An der ersten Hälfte merkt man meines Erachtens, dass Homme hier mit clearer Produktion und zugänglichen Songs ein bisschen auf den Rockmainstream geschielt hat. |

Tangled up hat ein ganz böses Rootsrock (oder was auch immer) Riff und dann darüber dieser klare, hohe Gesang. Strophe weltklasse, dann Refrain wiederum zu sehr Knüppel und zu wenig Florett. |

Jetzt beginnt die für mich schwächste Phase des Albums. "Burn the witch" ist instrumental ganz interessant, aber als Song eher laangweilig. Das Cover von Radiohead ist da um Welten besser. |

"Burn the witch", macht schon Spaß, aber ich bin nicht soo der Fan von solchen Stampfersongs. Finde aber, dass die beiden Stimmen ganz klasse harmonieren.

"In my head" finden ja alle langweilig, aber ich mag den. Vielleicht bin ich ja insgesamt auch etwas verblendet. Simpler, schöner Rocksong mit schöner Stimmung. |

Diese Art Songs waren nie meine Lieblinge auf QOTSA-Alben. Der Vorgänger "Deaf" hat da auch ein paar solcher Nummern. Find die eher ok. |
