Mal sehen was das Album bringt.

Wie klingts dann? Wieder in die "Blackened Sky" Richtung?
Pure_Massacre

SemiMental geht in die "My Recovery Injection"/"Glitter and Trauma"-Richtung.

Hello...
I suppose you're all wondering what we've been up to...

Well...

It involves fingers, feet and ears.

It all started yesteday, when James and I went to hire a van, to trasnsport ludicrous amounts of beautiful gear from idyllic to the snowy west of Glasgow (hairymill)

Today kicked off at 11.30am, waking up in the middle of the night was not the easiest, but so far it has been worth it...

We set up our equipment in the studio that we are recording demos in, throughout the week.

Today has seen us record the drum and bass tracks for around 19 possibles for our forthcoming album.

It has been immensely exciting to be in the company of the Blessed Shug and Dirty Pedro once more.
It feels like we're back home again.

Actually, we have frequented these premises many times, dating back to our first recording session for TheKidsWhoPop... ep, and all the b-sides for all our previous albums.

And in time honoured tradition, here is the address to send wonderful gifts to us (we're here until Friday)

The Practice Pad
24 Craigmont Street
Glasgow
G20 9BT

Expect more through the week, as we continue laying down hot riffs, jazz licks and high kicks...

Aktuelles Interview:

EXCLUSIVE: BIFFY POP IN AT LAST

Biffy Clyro
ROCKERS PLAY MAINSTREAM GIGS
By Rick Fulton

BIFFY Clyro are about to break into mainstream pop after 11 years of hard rock... but they prefer that to the overnight success of Arctic Monkeys.

The Ayrshire rock band - Simon Neil and twin brothers James and Ben Johnston - have released three albums, Infinity Land, Vertigo of Bliss and debut Blackened Sky.

Their blend of alternative rock and heavy metal has been difficult to pigeonhole and it's only now that the charts have caught up, thanks to the success of American acts like My Chemical Romance.

This summer the band, who've played T in the Park, Reading, Leeds and Download, will appear at the Full Ponty and Virgin Mobile V festivals, seen as the most middle of the road of leading UK events.

Singer and guitarist Simon, 26, said: "We formed in 1995 after meeting at school, but didn't do our first demo until 1996.

"It wasn't until 2000 that we really started trying. Before that, we just made a racket in our rooms.

"Seeing Arctic Monkeys' success is interesting. I think they are really good, but if your first album goes straight to No.1 and is the fastest-selling British album of all time, where do you go from that? It's a lot of pressure. You can't top that. I think they've done the best they could ever do.

"Whereas when we first started, no one really noticed us. But we just kept on playing and didn't go away."

Playing the Full Ponty Festival in May and V Festival in August shows that the band, who already have a loyal I fan base, are being accepted outside ' their usual music genre.

Simon admitted: "I'd never go to the V Festival unless there was one band I ' really wanted to see.

"It's something I don't think we'd have been asked to do before and it wouldn't have suited us as a band. But our new album has more two-and-a-half-minute songs rather than five minute ones with lots of different movements. "We're aware that if we want people who listen to s*** music to listen to good music, we're going to have to go to them. They aren't necessarily going to come to us.

"People who go to V Festival aren't necessarily going to go to a gig on a Tuesday night that hasn't been advertised loads. We want to take our music to them.

"Surely it's much better listening to good rock music. It's just a shame James Blunt is clogging up the charts. His music is for people who don't like music.

"But as soon as he goes bald like Phil Collins, we'll have the last laugh."

The first sign that Biffy's position in British rock was changing came when The Who frontman Roger Daltrey invited the trio to play at one of his Teenage Cancer Trust concerts last month alongside Bloc Party and Mystery Jets.

Simon said: "We noticed this too. Here was our band, perceived as heavy metal, on the same stage as Bloc Party.

"But it shows we can now sit between both camps. We aren't out of our depth and can play with any guitar band."

Biffy Clyro are also being championed by Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, a brand known for helping independent music talent. Sailor Jerry is supporting the band's appearance at the Full Ponty festival and want fans to design a vinyl that will decorate Simon's guitar for the gig.

Simon said: "I think it's great that our fans are being given this opportunity. They can hit the pub, have a sup of rum and get creative. I'mlooking forward to seeing some good stuff."

The band will miss T in the Park this year to focus on their fourth album, which they hope will be out in September. Possible titles include Puzzle and Spasm Of Good Sense, but there's still a long way to go and they are hoping to go to America in June or July to hook up with producers.

Simon added: "I think the new album is going to surprise a lot of people.

"We had a couple of songs after the last album that were really long and complex.

"But we wondered whether we were sacrificing the song for the sake of trying to make them complex.

"Now the new songs are two-and-a-half-minutes long and very to the point.

"We decided to do the opposite of what everyone would expect us to do. We really try to not repeat ourselves."

They have their sights set on fame and fortune, but with strings attached.

"We want to keep our fans excited as well as ourselves and if we pick up new fans then magic," said Simon. "But we won't sacrifice what we've done up to now for that."

"We really try to not repeat ourselves."

Currently the band are locked away in a studio in deepest darkest Vancouver with Rage Against the Machine producer GGGarth Richardson.

For all those people who'd love to know, the record is tentatively titled "Puzzle".

The record is nearing completion with music and studio updates available very soon.

Hello all.

Biffy will record their 4th album in September and October 2006, in Vancouver, Canada.

The record will be produced by ggGarth Richardson.

Please continue to check the diary and myspace page for further informal updates, and look out your old tshirts, because whilst we've lent your attention to others for a while, very soon, we'll want it back for keeps...

believe.
